Speedo reading 999999 after removal and refit

Hi All, hopefully a simple query. I have just removed the cluster to renew the 5 bulbs, (1 was intermittent, so I did them all any how) After refitting the cluster only and then when I switched the ignition on the mileage showed 999999, the time was blank, trip was back to 0, OAT was OK. (Bulbs where OK) I reset the time and date and rebuilt the whole thing. I have not driven it yet. So my query is will it revert to its 245000KMs when it gets going? 2005 Vogue 4.4 (BMW) Still giving it TLC after its neglection. Not quite a money pit, but close. Now 245K. (05/14) It is still the most comfortable car I have ever owned.

If it doesnt correct itself, i'd probably try the battery disconnect procedure first as (with most computers) turning it off and back on usually sorts most problems and allows the ECU's to communicate / reset.

Hi all, just cracked it, did the reset on the cluster tests (NR 21) and it went back to the correct reading. So thanks for your answer Paul which I have only just read, as internet is really bad at the moment over here. 2005 Vogue 4.4 (BMW) Still giving it TLC after its neglection.
