When we moved from the North West down to Wiltshire, we took our 3.9 Classic into a local 4x4 'specialist' for its MOT and service, when we picked the car up, although it was clean inside, there were 100 odd miles more than it went in with, we later heard from a friend who had spotted the car on the road to Southampton!! |

An in-built tracking device (as used by commercial van / lorry fleets) can show very interesting information.

Mate dropped his ford at a large dealership in Stoke for some work, started walking to work. His car came past driven by a young lad in mechanics overalls who wheelspan out of a junction and the car was then spotted outside a bacon butty shop!

Welshdragon, I'd be handing a copy of your dashcam video to the police - dangerous and inexcusable behaviour

If it happens that he was up to 75mph in a 40mph zone and was caught on a speed camera, I assume that its the mechanic would would be done? |

+1...I would go absolutely Nucking Futs if someone did that to MY car!......A friend of mine had a similar issue with a Shagwar MD who ignored his complaint outright (the car had been spotted in a pub car park overnight and came back dirty and ash ridden) but as he owned a vehicle graphics company, he decided to have it fully graphic'd up with lettering detailing each and every issue he had suffered with the car since day one and details of his allegations regarding the "extra use" the vehicle had been subject to whilst in the dealers care (I understand he took wording advice from his solicitor before doing it) he then parked it outside their frontage (on the public highway) and called the press to take piccies....within 10 minutes, the Chairman of the dealer group had called him to offer an apology plus a refund on the service, plus the next service free plus he arranged to have the vehicle full de-logo'd / detailed and filled with a full tank of juice..nice result, but unfortunately for the dealer, it still went in the local rag anyway serves em right GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus HAVE 1999 Discovery 2 GS 4.0 V8 - Silver - Off Road Toy GONE 2013 L405 4.4 SDV8 Vogue. It happens, it's why I rarely leave my car at the dealership, if it's in for a service I will wait with it, if it is for repairs I will send it to my matey mechanic, who collects and re delivers the same day, and I note the mileage and he knows that, I'm pretty sure that when it goes in for any paint the bodyshop man will drive it home so as not to leave it in the middle of an industrial estate, but I'm not that bothered as it always comes back spotless. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
