Pin 36 is the permanent earth for the ULF. It will not power up without it connected. It needs to be connected at all times.

No, that's an Alpine after market microphone from a previous phone kit I'd imagine.

Yes there was an old Nokia cradle in the car when I bought it, although that seemed to have a separate Mic wired in which was stuck on the roof.

It could be. Do you have wireless headphones or something ?

Yes, there's wireless headphones although I've never got them working.

My mic connector was tucked up near where the mic would be, but there was no mic in the car, I got a BMW one. The black holder was there though, which your alpine mic is in.

The diagram below is from RAVE. Please remember the connector pin numbers are the OLD ones, ie where you took the wire from, not how you have got it now. The big black connector in the boot was originally wired to go to a Telephone Control Module, which you don't have.

Thanks very much for that - I'll take out the overhead console and see if the Mic connector is in there. |

Thanks very much - after some rummaging, I managed to find it tucked away out of sight. Now to buy a microphone! I've made enquiries with BMW, and the cost of the updated microphone is about £42 (in case that's of use to anyone else). |

Thanks - car is currently being converted to LPG and don't get it back until Thursday, so will have to wait until then to fit the new mic. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement microphone grill? I think getting the old one out will be difficult as there's a lot of glue in there. Unless anyone has any nifty tricks?! |
