change to led....start of

So this afternoon on my break at work thought I'd change the side light bulbs to led's....a simple job should take no more than 10 minutes. HA
NO, 30 ish minutes later, Shocked the drivers side is just so cramp to fit your hand in to undo that light fitting wingnut. I had to undo the 2 bolts and un clip the headlight wiring and cover just to reach the wing nut on the side light housing....... I still managed to drop the bloody plastic wingnut Evil or Very Mad.
25 min later that side was done, passenger side had so much room you could swing a cat in there, and that done in 5 ish minutes,. but the m6 bolt need replacing as its so rusty the wing nut wont even screw up the thread!

Well at least the side light are now white not the horrid yellow Very Happy

Anyone else done the ' It'll only take 10 minutes to do' and the job just goes on and on and on..... If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I agree with the drivers side being too cramped. I ended up having to crawl under the car to reach up and over the engine tray to recover the pesky fixing that dropped down. You have to creatively unscrew it and hold it into the screwthread to prevent it dropping by surprise, and just getting them to unscrew is an issue if they have not been removed in ages. However, once done it is a vast improvement and well worth the effort. Tom

I think the fogs are a lot easier to get to and there are lots of posts about modding to LEDs and LED rings. I just use the sidelights as DRLs and have kept my fogs as stock for when the mist rolls in. Tom

it'll cost you about £8 for a pair of 'white' type halogen bulbs so if you decide you dont like then you havnt lost much.. ... - .- -.

Only reason they are changing street lights to white LED is running costs - PAR 38 lamp (yellow sodium) 38 Watts, LED array 6 Watts, therefore 80 odd % cost saving Thumbs Up

LED's also last longer, although the LED street light arrays haven't been around that long, so it remains to be seen what happens to them as they age (i.e. will the light output fall appreciably?).

must admit though, the ones we have around here are pretty impressive. Thumbs Up 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)
