2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Carpathian Grey
Picked up my Buck Blue TDV8!

Hey All,

Thanks to everyone for their help in bringing me into the world of FF ownership. My first ever post was about owning an FF in London - through to everyone helping me on spec discussions on Topix to questions on the colour combos.

However - Weds last week I picked up my 2010 TDV8 Vogue!

According to Land Rover Centre in Liverpool who I had do the inspection on it - I've picked up a "Bloody Bargain!" - as it's a one owner car, Full Service History owned by a 70yr old Cattle Breeder from near Stirling who basically just did lots of motorway miles. I test drove an exact same spec at a main dealer here in London, and picked this car up for £14k less. Admittedly, it has 97k on the clock - but again as LR Centre said, it drives like it has half the miles.

It turned the previous owner was a smoker, which was a PITA but Grangers Car Valeting - http://www.grangersvalet.co.uk/ - who I highly recommend sorted that, as well as giving the car a full machine polish.

It has several toys that weren't in the ad - including Logic 7, Park Heat (although it's lost the remote) and all the normals like DAB, Heated Steering wheel etc.

The main topic of worry I had was that it was a car with Navy leather - and a few people on the forum voiced concerns about that. However, all I can say is that I think this is down to the fact that it simply doesn't photograph very well, as in the flesh it really is a stunning combo. If you go onto a Land Rover brochure from 2010 - Buck Blue, with Navy leather with Parchment Piping was actually the designers recommended combo which is an interesting fact.

I've driven it all the way down from Liverpool to London and ferried my family out to Whitstable at the weekend and I love it. I came from a BMW M5 Touring with a 500HP V10 - and everything I did in that was always at maximum attack. The FF just makes you sit back, relax and ride along on a wave of torque. My wife much prefers it, although she's still struggling with parking a bit.

First up is a complete fluid change to be safe, then down to Land Rover to get a warranty on it before it ticks over 100k - and swap my 19s for a set of Autobiography/Supercharged 20's. I have a wanted ad out for those right now.

Look forward to joining in with you all.

Well done and welcome!

The 20s will look much nicer IMHO.

Just to be pedantic Logic 7 wasn't an extra Whistle

If you need to combat the smell of smoke on an ongoing basis, Autoglym do an Odour Neutraliser spray and its great for carpets and headlining, just don't spray it too close to the fabric or you see the rings of the spray pattern when it dries, always mist it on. Discovery 4 HSE

Very nice. The navy leather looks good. Thumbs Up

Just to counteract RRUK's Autoglym spray suggestion... The spray aroma is wrong for a FF, in my view. It's very nice, but doesn't 'suit' the car.

Far, far better is a Gliptone air freshener that hangs from a grab handle or similar. The scent is pure good quality leather and smells just right for an FF's interior. You can buy bundles of them on eBay for not a lot, but each one lasts for a good couple of months. Si. <This is my name.

Well done - lovely motor Thumbs Up

I'd be tempted to add a titanium spliter bar at the front and change the side vents to the 2010 autobiography style ones Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White

Thanks everyone!

On the smoke smell - Grangers used a "Fogger" that they put inside the car - run the aircon full blast with the vents closed to pull the odour killer through the whole system - then let it all out the car - then fill the car up with it. You let the car sit for at least two hours then you can open it up.

It has made a massive difference - but it's not quite gone compeletely - so I'm going to call them back for a second attempt as they said they'd do that free.

If that does't work you can hire an ozone machine - which is what they use to kill the smoke smell in fire damaged buildings. Nothing survives that!

Thanks for comments on mods and wheels - for now it'll just be wheels and we'll see where it goes!

EDIT - Just Bought the 20" 2011 Supercharged/Autobiography rims I was watching on Ebay. Can't wait to get 'em on!

Looking good.

If you still have issues with the smoke smell, put some bleach in a plastic bucket and pour on a kettles worth of boiling water. Place in sealed car overnight. Job done.

What do the silver things on the side of the headrests do ? Keep seeing them in a few cars........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

What does those buttons actually do? I assume it's not head rest height adjustment as that must be electric? Whistle Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White
