Thumbs Up Love fixie on the road but as you say takes getting used to... Laughing Laughing broke my collar bone after combining beer and fixie inexperience and slippery cobbles one night in Hull many years ago. Graham

A sobering reminder to take good care of your bikes - some kind scrote in Cambridge decided he deserved my bike more than I did today at cut through all three locks securing it to help himself. Sad

Soooo close.

Won't go into real details on here for obvious reasons but found said property online for sale... Temptation got the better of me and (having passed on details to the police) then arranged to meet my new friendly scrote to buy my property from him again. During this I would be accompanied at a distance by a friend of mine who does a remarkably good impression of a police officer (especially when carrying his warrant card...)

Plan was that, if I was sure it was mine, my friend would take off his jacket and my new friendly scrote would leg it, leaving us with said property. Evidence of why I thought it was mine all documented prior and formally produced as evidence (invoices for everything incl accessories, PDI sheet, photo's, description of the minimal damage from me 'joining the club' Wink)

All going to plan, texts exchanged, meeting agreed etc. I even had the money in case I wasn't 100% and had to buy it. Unfortunately all went cold 30 mins before the meet and he never turned up so I had a rather long and fruitless journey and 30 mins in the sunshine watching the World go by Sad.

Worth a try though. Still glad we gave it a crack even if it was a huge let down having been shaking for about 3 hours before hand (I am a lightweight). Passed on some more relevant info to the authorities in the hope it helps although accept that mine has now been sold on, hence the no show and disposable phone switched off. Some of the info I got from conversing with him was definitely more than you could glean from the advert so hope it can help piece things together and help stop this Cold Unhelpful Nasty Thief...

[for the avoidance of doubt and in case any of the subtlety above goes over anyones head, my friend is not really impersonating a police officer, he is one - he was just happy to help me while off duty but had to be dressed for work as he was going straight there afterwards - we were (genuinely and absolutely) doing nothing wrong or even 'stretching the boundaries' of what he can do - he is perfectly able to help despite being off duty]

PS - 47p2, I was hoping they got something far worse, and far more terminal, than road rash!

Heard of several ex owners adopting similar tactics, some successful others not so lucky. You just don't know what sort of idiot you're dealing with, be careful

Yesterday I was booked in to cycle a 200k audax. I was up at 5:00am and had breakfast, organised my gear and packed the car and then checked the forecast. Rain and 40mph winds, the rain wasn't a problem but the wind was and I left it until 7:00am before checking the weather again in case there was any changes. Sadly there wasn't so I decided to pull out at the eleventh hour and spent the day at home where I did 10 miles on the turbo trainer and managed to squeeze 10 miles in on the fixed gear bike at 8:00pm last night when things had calmed down.

Today was a different story though
After yesterdays atrocious weather the sun was shining here and the wind had dropped to around 14mph so I managed to get a nice 63 miles in. Glasgow to Mugdock, Lennoxtown, Kilsyth, Tak Ma Doon, Carron Valley, lunch at Fintry, Killearn, Croftamie, Jamiestown, Alexandria, Dumbarton and home.

Just back from a nice 30 miles with 1950 feet of climbing this morning. First time out on the Trigon this year and it felt good.
Stopped for a quick picture, you can just about make out Glasgow in the distance

A great weekend's cycling, on Saturday I completed my Strava Challenge Gran Fondo number 4 covering a distance of 84 miles in glorious sunshine

Plenty snow still on the mountains

Took things easy on Sunday with only 24 miles but at a fast pace
