Your recommendations for my 4.4 2003 FFR

Vented or non vented...any noticeable difference ?

Green stuff pads or other make ?

Oem on brakes every time on something weighing 2.7 tonnes. Not too pricey tbh. Give dan at duckworths a shout. Brembo discs and pads for my tdv8 were less than 150 would have though non brembo on a 4.4 would be less. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Post and packing to take in to consideration though with duckworths plus I have priced a couple of items with them and no cheaper than my local land rover dealership.
Would like to know what difference is between vented and non vented discs and don't any one tell me that one has holes in it !!

The rear discs up to 6A vin numbers were non ventilated and ventilated after , or put another way it changed about early mid 2005. 2008 MY Supercharged

I had read that drilled discs can be noisy and are not for those doing higher miles.

If you've not seen it, here's a summary of what grilled/ dimpled grooved discs actually do:

Drilled & Grooved (or Dimpled & Grooved) – The benefits of drilled and grooved brake discs is that they can aid braking by allowing heat to escape as well as helping to remove gas and water. This combination of drilled and grooved may help to improve braking performance. Holes are drilled completely through the discs and shallow channels are machined into the disc or alternately shallow dimples are machined into the disc.

Drilled – The benefits of drilled brake discs over standard plain discs, is that drilled discs can aid Improved Cooling Under Braking. The holes are drilled completely through the discs allowing heat to escape.
Drilled brake discs are not recommended for racing or other hard use.

Grooved – The benefits of grooved brake discs over standard plain discs, is that drilled discs can aid in removing dust and gas. Grooved brake discs have shallow channels machined into the disc which can remove gas, water, and de-glaze brake pads.

When it comes to Suspension, Brakes and Steering, I ALWAYS replace parts with original manufactures items. A lot of research and testing is performed by the manufacturer in order to find what works best, and despite what the aftermarket people will tell you, on the whole they just don't have the facilities, desire, or budget to do this kind of product approval testing (before someone jumps in here to disagree, I know there are some that do, but they are the exception rather than the rule).

My FF (56 Reg 4.4 V8 Vogue) has ventilated rear disks. I had a seized rear Calliper which I replaced (doing both sides obviously) and fitted genuine pads a couple of weeks ago. The pads which were on there were 'Motaquip' (after market, probably fitted when the previous owner had it serviced at a 'normal' garage) they were a black coloured pad.

The originals, supplied by Dan, were Ferodo, and a brown colour. The brakes are noticeably better, and, more to the point, a week after washing the car, the front wheels are pretty dirty due to the black dust produced by the motaquip pads fitted here, while the dust off the rear pads, being a light brown colour, doesn't look anywhere near as untidy - another good reason for using original parts.

People who list helpful videos on you tube showing front discs and pads being changed in 5 minutes should be shot..... these videos should be in REAL TIME !! 4 hours min by the time we'd wrestled with seized bolts and disc screws.

Went with site sponsors, Advanced Factors in the end for the front and back brakes. What an absolute bargain and what a well put together package with the copper grease, new disc screw, sensor wire and even the little plastic plugs for the rear drums.

Great kit from Advanced Motor Factors and now fitted. However, has any one had a problem with the sensors that came with their kit ? My brake pad warning symbol is coming on and off despite fitting the new sensors which have been carefully routed to follow the original.

Must admit the sensors can be a pain in the ärse at times I joined my wires as you can see the pads easily enough without a stupid code pinging up now and again on the dash _____________________________________________________

Even if newly fitted, once a sensor has activated, does that not mean it is spent and needs replaced?
