As per very useful jack modification thread, I purchased a Mercedes Sprinter bottle jack and an adaptor pad

However, a couple of months later the jack is still sitting on my workbench as I don't know anyone who can drill me a 16mm hole as per the instructions below

Can anyone recommend a metal workshop near Manchester or is there somewhere I can post it to??

I need to buy a new jack (the previous one is with my FFRR that is being sold in Nigeria) for my new SC. I did get two adaptor pieces (BMW plastic ones) so one I have here. The plastic should be quite easy to drill.

If you take the jack to a good work shop, show them the go-by on here (just put the pics etc. in a word document and print it) you should be fine  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Ummm I used 4 pieces of kindling gaffa taped together instead of a BMW adapter and it works fine. The soft wood forms to the shape of the jacking point and then the jack digs into the wood which stops it from slipping about. No mods needed and I've usually got some gaffa tape and kindling knocking about (ooh er missus?!).

The metal on top is soft, you can just use a file, you don't need a grinder.
Get it flat and then just file the ends off and you can use as is. I got someone to weld a small flat plate on top which fits exactly in the hole on the car, I also topped it of with a bit of rubber.

FYI for those looking at adapters, have you tried taking the small soft plastic trim off the car instead? It comes away quite easily if needed? Also it is designed as the softer material against the jack and the body as its hard but still quite soft as a plastic/rubber compound
