The title says it all. I've printed off the WIKI but dint understand the following:
1. Take apart the multi plug - Is that the yellow thing in the attached photo?
2. Unclip the cover and undo and remove the nut for the battery disconnect system - Is that the black thing with the red cable coming out of it in the attached photo? Mine has a cable tie around the black plastic thingy. Am I meant to cut the cable tie and pry open the black plastic cover?

It's all greek to me.
I have the battery ready to fit. Can someone give me instructions please.

Now unclip the cover and undo and remove the nut for the battery disconnect system. Lift off the cable and set aside. (This is why item 5 is important, as this thing is designed to explode and break the battery connection in the event of a crash, so it works alongside the SRS)
OK, now you can wiggle and remove the positive connector from the battery terminal.
Battery disconnected!

It is a two stager!

Disconnect negative terminal first before doing anything else (after waiting for systems to die)

Yes, disconnect the yellow multiplug

Yes, undo the battery terminal nut until loose

Yes, unclip the red cover and undo the nut on the battery diconnect thingy. Remove cable then release terminal from battery.

As long as you allow all the computers to die before disconnecting things, you can't really go wrong.

Thanks Joe, I'm following the WIKI to the letter I was not sure if the multi plug was the yellow one or that other black thing in the photo.
Now that I understand that the battery disconnect system is that black plastic thingy it all makes sense.

Don't forget to put the Bonnet in 'Sevice mode' first or you'll never get it out. Regards

FWIW, I unlock the car, don't put key in ignition. pop the bonnet, put bonnet in service mode, disconnect -ve, disconnect +ve - haul the thing out after undoing what you need to. Put new one back in reconnect +ve then -ve , start the car and do the steering lock to lock a few times to reset the steering angle sensor.


I've done it a few times without problem and I'm no mechanic  Geoff

One last question chaps. One piece of WIKI says attach the +VE to the bulkhead stud first and then to the battery terminal.
Another WIKI guide states the opposite. Attach lead to +VE battery terminal and then to the bulkhead.
Which is correct or does it not matter?
