Have you tried the rotary Knob gear stick?

We currently have a new Jag XF as a courtesy car whilst the RR is having some work done at the garage and it has the James Bond style pop up on start up rotary auto gear knob. I'm presuming this is as per the outgoing L322 models?

3 days in and I can't see me ever being at ease with such a contraption (I've already nearly shot forward into a solid object... Twice!).

For those who have had the traditional Auto gear stick on the L322 and have then "upgraded" to this design, is it something intuitive that you get used to (and wondered how you ever put up with a gearstick) ... Or not?

Thumbs Up

i dont think i could get on with one of those, i had a BMW X5 with the short gearstick that felt like a pc joystick....
there's nothing better than a proper stick you can get hold of and have a positive selection of gears.. ... - .- -.

Just feels weird... The steering mounted paddles feel fine... Guess I'm used to occasionally putting my hand on the stick just to check it's still there! Rolling with laughter

If you have the twisty knob which i have you get used to it. I would have preferred a stick but i like the flappy paddles too. 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)

Not the same I know but my A8 has a short stubby gearshift that doesn't move much, it's impossible to tell by feel whether you're in park or sport or neutral or reverse or drive or whatever. You have to look at the dash indicator. Not good. But it is handy to rest your arm on. Always in the same place. Graham

That was the reason for the style of the gear stick in the Audi so that it could be used as an armrest ====================================
