Uprated Pully for a SC Vogue

I am new to this Has any one had any experiences with upper change on a supercharged vogue to increase BHP. I bought a pulley from Powerhouse Automotive. I believe I was misled it is a nightmare apparently to fit And when I spoke to power automotive the guy said I picked the wrong one but I know I did not. I think I was misled they themselves would not even fit it on a SC Range Rover. Strange

there's a couple of threads on here about fitting the pulley if you search
one chap definitely had success although he augmented the pulley with a fancy exhaust

Yup, I got the PowerHouse 6% one and they fitted it without the need to modify the supercharger snout. The 10% pulley is a sod to fit on the FFRR and needs the supercharger to be removed. I've also had colder spark plugs, Eurocharged remap, custom intake tube, 200cell cats and I'm on my second custom exhaust (post coming soon).

My car is significantly faster than a standard 4.2, in fact it does 0-60 in the same time as the mrs stock RX-8 albeit in a different manner. So I'm guessing it's doing around 6-6.5 for a 0-60, the main thing is it's now significantly quiter until you open the throttle.

The spark plugs let the ecu/map advance the timing allowing you to burn fuel longer. This means more fuel can go in and therefore more power is generated. It hasn't adversely affected the idle/running but I couldn't say they make it smoother. LR use iridium plugs for the SC anyway so it didn't start out with a bad set to begin with. I have noticed a lot more low end pickup and torque from the mods. In winter it had a few moments where it idled a bit rough on startup, but that cleared after about 30 seconds and it was -12 at the time.

I've also had mine done together with a remap and an estimated 460bhp, according to the Jaguar specialist who did the work.

It's up to you whether you feel it's worth the effort as a standard S/C is no slouch.

Don't bother fitting the new pulley yourself unless you're handy with an oxyacetylene torch. The RR S/C engine has a lot less access than the version fitted in a Jaguar, so I'm told. Si. <This is my name.

I'm not sure about 460 from a 6% pulley and map. If think it'd be in the 445 area at best. Not that it matters because its the gearbox software that's most limiting. My remap had the redline moved to 6750 but the gearbox changes at 6300 max.

please give more information on these "colder spark plugs" - what brand and specifications - how would i know whether it is colder, hotter or the same as the current spark plugs?

From NGK's site. Basically what ASP's post above is saying is that the cooler running plugs don't induce glow-ignition or pre-ignition under intense heat loads which therefore allows more fuel to be forced in before the increased volatility of the pressurised fuel/air mixture becomes a problem.

The heat rating

The heat development varies greatly from engine to engine. For example, turbocharged engines run significantly hotter than engines which are not charged.

Therefore, there is a spark plug for each engine which can conduct a precisely defined measure of heat to the cylinder head and ensures that the optimal temperature window is maintained.

The so-called heat rating provides information about the thermal endurance of a spark plug. The following applies for NGK spark plugs: The higher the heat rating, the higher the thermal endurance.

The heat rating number is found in the respective type designation of NGK spark plugs.
