While waiting for SWMBO i was tinkering about with the touchscreen and came across these settings, and although i don't do off roading it's the first i have seen them in 5 year of owning the car ...........

Yep, you can only get the compass display when you select the 'Off Road' navigation option from the initial navigation screen, otherwise, in normal on road navigation, it isn't available and if you switch to the views you have shown, it does not show the compass at all (I always wondered why it couldn't though as the GPS knows which way you are travelling be it on or off road???). Seems I have an issue displaying the compass - just keeps saying not able to display in either on or off road

funny you should say that cos before i updated my mapping , i didnt get the compass.... |

Total waste of time guys, drive by the track and not by the screen..had the same on my D3... ..the eye is better than a computer.

well mine are used off road every week and daily in season, the compass is useless for me though, I know where I am going and have to stick to tracks anyway - would be only any use in the desert or a wide expanse of area where there are no tracks |

or, the compass would be handy when we get our next massive snowstorm and every thing is covered and you cant see the signposts .... |

when i had a navara d40 , no snow, sold it and got a smax ,got snow...now i've a ffrr , i bet we dont get snow.. |
