never had anything to do with petrol FFRR's, although had petrol Discos and 110's. what are the figures on a S/C, by that I mean BHP and torque?

just find the statement it'll be faster than a TDV8 even a tuned one a bit rash!! it must be a close thing surely as the diesel is bound to have more low down torque and as we all know its torque that makes you go forwards!!

obviously not looking for a my petrol's better than your oil burner type of fight, just a genuine question. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

cheers stan, my TDV8 has 330BHP and nearly 800Nm of torques and I have been timed at 7.5 secs to 60, not bad for an old oil burner!!

obviously the extra horses on the S/C will make a difference. I didn't know they were that powerful, I thought only about 350 ish.

I stand corrected!!.. Thumbs Up Bow down Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Stan, a pedantic person would say that the 4.2 SC is actually 396bhp, but clearly, that's not me. Whistle Discovery 4 HSE

All , we are trying to help GG get the best FFRR for him, arguing about BHP and torque wont help in the real world, my view is that based on his location, journey length, etc. an SC would be the best bet. Most of us live in an area where we do mid/long journeys where maybe a TDV8 would be good, I personally believe the best is an SC, INHO Thumbs Up

No green eyed monsters here guys. I use the torque for effortless towing. Petrol engines even powerful ones are not as good as diesel ones for this in my opinion. I've had more cars with powerful engines than I can shake a stick at and by that I mean over 600bhp powerful!! It's great fun but, been there done that an over the moon with my lovely TDV8.

I could be persuaded to tune up a 4.4 tdv8 and see if I can extract 400bhp and 1000Nm . Thumbs Up Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Blah blah blah effortless towing blah blah blah. I've never had an issue towing with my SC and I've pulled Disco 3's out of lakes at pay and play sites in the mud. Anything from the BMW 4.4 upwards in a RR is enough to tow without issues, the TD6 was the only engine that could be considered a bit underpowered.

Oooooh I love starting arguments Whistle

Spoke to an Indy today and he advised the 3.6 TDV8 over the SC due to the fact, n his opinion, "the TDV8 can be tuned and would leave a SC standing" his words not mine before I am assassinated Mr. Green

Seriously seriously torn between the 2. I'd kiss the ground for the welcome sound of me mother sayin 'Hinny Howay'
