The roof section on the Range Rover is apparently very strong.

For the G4 (or shortly after, using the vehicles) they would roll a FFRR onto it's roof and show how to recover. Shocked
I assume they were FFRR that couldn't be put on the road for some reason, such as a prototype or something...

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Corris Grey

The new 2010 model is extremely stable as per my off road day at LR when we did the 65mph (not kidding) down a grassy/muddy hill then did a very severe swerve (as if trying to miss a car that had just done an emergency stop in front of you on the motorway) without DSC and assists turned on and went into a full 360 degree + spin out of control down the hill and came to a halt. Did same again with all aids on and the car was able to be swerved to miss ' the obstacle' then returned back into 'the virtual lane' with little drama. It was ridiculously impressive to be honest, for the size of the car and the severity of the swerve we performed. Very Happy Steve

It's easy to roll almost any vehicle if you have an obstacle to hit first in the right (wrong) way - even a kerb! Shocked The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

He must have hit something, maybe clipped a high kerb or something.

I had to avoid someone on the motorway which involved heavy braking plus half lock at about 80+

That would be enough to send most cars into a slide. RR had a bit of a wallow, I nearly poo'd myself but all was fine. The back stepped out a tiny bit but ABS/DSC/CBC brought it back into line.

Even going lock to lock should not enable you to roll a RR. The DSC will cut all power and will start applying the brakes so by the time you're trying to correct you've slowed right down, if you're braking at the same time CBC will have kicked in which tightens everything up even more. You could roll a classic, until the introduction of anti roll bars & ABS.

Cars generally can be really easy to roll. At an accident the other day a motorbike managed to put an X5 on it's side. The bike was overtaling traffic at high speed when the X5 turned right across front of it. The bike hit it in the rear corner and turned it over.

Must have been a hell of a speed. Shocked My Previous RR's!
