2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Epsom Green

Niceday for it, your definitely right, that little fan can't draw much power at all. I figured maybe the whole HVAC panel was staying live, maybe more with the gear stick red light etc. anyway I fitted a new battery last night, locked it up, came back 10-15 minutes later and the red light was off! Never seen that before, I wonder if disturbing the relay fixed a loose connection?

Good idea re FSR, not exactly an expensive spare to keep if the other is ok, but good to rule it out for sure as you say.

New boot seal arrived but I haven't got time to fit it this evening. Will do it tomorrow and run a dehumidifier for a few days to dry it out, who knows it may start behaving of its own accord, if not I guess I need to disconnect each module in turn and see if that cures the fault. In doing so, would the issues disappear instantly when I disconnect the faulty module or would I need to turn the ignition on and off/disconnect the battery/pull some fuses to reset anything?

Matt

Thumbs Up
Interesting as well as replacing the battery it's common to try a battery disconnection for about 30minutes when any electrical fault occurs on an FFRR, it's amazing how many times faults disappear as if by magic following a disconnection.
I fitted a battery isolating switch for this very purpose, just for the convenience.
As regards disconnecting units, I see no reason why the results shouldn't be instantaneous with the battery drain wholly or in part disappearing.
The same thing happens with a significant majority of the fuses if they are removed, no need to wait for the car to go to sleep on pulling them you can see on the ammeter if there is any change in drain straight away. Saves a lot of time.
As a pointer I had a 300mA drain at one point, turned out to be a faulty switch module on the telephone system which I don't use anyway. Removed the module from the harness, put the car back to original, the current drain dropped to zero.
It was still at zero last time I checked, a reading I find hard to believe. Turned out that a miniature relay in the switch module had jammed closed due to corrosion caused by water ingress. Module was discontinued so couldn't be replaced.

Navigation Module has been known to cause battery drain in the past but you must wait until the red light on the Module itself has gone out before disconnecting. I would disconnect this one first and see what happens.

Nicedayforit, I tried as you said...see last post: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic23767-15.html

I also took some current measurements as you'll see.

Interesting your drain related to the phone system, I also don't it either, and it makes me wonder how many other modules for equipment I don't use could be removed!
