Glow plug relay failure/ecu malfunction transmission failure

Hi guys
Went to start this morning and nothing. First I thought it was battery problem. Had some complete useless tool plug it in and tell me that along with many other codes the 2 main reasons it isn't starting is ox350580/po380 glow plug relay failure/ glow relay deflective and ox1d502/p1602 ecu malfunction/transmission failure. He said ther was nothing he could do and to speak to dealer. I've got someone picking up off the drive on Monday. Does anyone have an idea if there is something I can do to keep the costs down? Could really do without it at the moment as I have a new addition due any day! Any help would be appreciated.

When you say "nothing", do you mean the car didn't turn over, or it turned over but didn't start?

Are you getting any lights on the dash?

A simple check to see if your Glow Plug relay is working is to get someone else to turn on the ignition to position II while you are very near the big black box under the bonnet. You should hear a big click (this is the relay operating and sending power to the glow plugs). This may not, however, mean that it is working properly! That said, I have had a glow plug relay failure code for five years and it has not stopped me from starting up properly Thumbs Up .

It doesn't turn over at all. It just taps/clicks. All the lights come on the dash. I think this is going to be costly. Big Cry

That sounds more like no juice or dead starter to me then any glowplug work as even with a duff relay the car would start albeit a bit smokey and lumpy till it had some heat in the cylinder. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

What is the voltage on the battery?

Check the connections on the battery and to the starter motor, also the earth straps to engine and body

Always worth a tap on the starter motor with a leather hammer if you can get at it, in case the bendix/solenoid is a little stuck.. .
