White smoke at start up.

Hi,

I am having problems with my 3.6 TDV8.

There is white smoke coming out of the drivers side exhaust at start up and the engine seems to be searching/pulsing between 600 & 750rpm.

Opened the bonnet and there also looks like exhaust gas escaping in the engine bay on the left hand side of the engine as you look at the car. Shocked

I am afraid of driving it anywhere but there are no warning lights on.

Any thoughts?

AA have just been out and reckon either a turbo has blown or it is a sticking EGR Valve.

Knowing my luck probably a turbo. Sad

Glad I didn't drive it anywhere. Waiting for the low loader now. Rolling Eyes

Is it under warranty?

The Recovery Truck Driver thinks that a seal has gone on an oil feeder pipe to the turbo rather than the turbo blowing up.

He appeared to know a lot more than the AA guy.

Apparently he has picked up 2 other FFRRs since Xmas with the same issue.

Fingers crossed as this will be a damn sight cheaper!

Well it is worse than I had thought. Crying or Very sad

Both turbos need changing. One is leaking oil and the other is partially seized.

Has anyone else had turbo failure on a TDV8?

If so did you go for a reconditioned, remanufactured or new part?

Currently looking at a bill over £3,000!

I have decided to replace with remanufactured turbos which brings the cost down to £2K.
