United States 2011 Range Rover Supercharged 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

My first Rangie was a 1983 phase 1 four door with the 4 speed manual. That thing was a beast and was very reliable. That was followed by a 1988 highline which now has about 400,000km on it. There is nothing like the v8 burble of the classic Rangies. My p38 and supercharged don't sound anywhere as good. 2015 RR Supercharged - Aintree Green

Had an old two door classic in Dubai in 1980 which we used for towing a speedboat and for desert driving. Great fun. Taught my girlfriend (now wife) to drive in that in the desert. Not a car for miles for her to bump in to!

Distributor fell out (housing broke) during one trip on our own miles from anywhere. Gaffer taped it back in and returned on five cylinders. Carried on for hours like that! I'd blamed the wife for her bad driving before I realised the distributor was hanging out! I miss the days of cobbling together 'get you home' repairs in the middle of nowhere.

Had another Classic in the early 90s but a more sophisticated 3.9. Looked great but still an uncomfortable driving position for a big bloke. Happier with my Full Fat L322 for a full fat bloke Whistle 2012 5.0L S/C

I have owned a 3.5 V8 EFI Vogue, last of the 3.5's and it was a fantastically reliable car, only major problem I had with it was the gearbox had a couple of dodgy valves in it and wouldn't change into top gear. I have also owned Disco 1 and 2 a TD6 and now the TDV8. I know this is the kiss of death, but they have all been fantastic. I firmly believe, if you look after them they will look after you. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Craig, you absolute *****
I saw that but couldn't get myself up to Harrogate fast enough to see it.
If you decide you don't want it please let me know

David

Anyway, here's mine, although I don't actually have a 322.

Here's my experience of the original Classic.
I rolled my dad's Range Rover Vogue in Ibiza where we lived at the time (1990). The suspension was very soft these days and the roads quite sandy. We were lucky no one was hurt, I suffered back injury and my two friends were ok.
My father bought another one after that which I managed not to roll!
Luckily the newer generations are handling better... and my driving skills have improved.
I do love those original Classics though, I think the L322 captures the same spirit of the original Classic much better than the L405 does.

First Rangie was a 1984 3 door manual V8 Rangie. Loved it.

I skipped on the P38, going through a collection of Discovery I, 2s and 3s, then back to L322s, several of them Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Sadly no classic here but went Disco 1.I've had 3 of them 2 x 300tdi and 3.9 v8, which I still have and owned 14 years, sometimes wish I had got the last of the true classic, soft dash, but in essence the D1 is only a rebodyed RR Whistle If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

That rolled Classic looks like it came out pretty well. Still has a good amount of headroom. Thumbs Up

we had a 1989 3.9 for a few years, with the kids in nappies. it was a great car. the kids would drive it on my lap. up grass banks. I looked after it for about 50k miles, but it plummeted in value sharply, and had wheelarch rust issues coming through, and its swan-song, was as a rubbish cart-horse, during a (to me) massive building project, carting heaps or rubble and materials, with seats in rear out, and concrete blocks resting against the windows and door panels.... it was her final days. as its MOT loomed it was 'caned' till it's arse bled! without its MOT it was going to be a sad day, and I sold her for off roading, like gifting an old horse to the sanctury.....I remember fondly trying to get it to semi- roll at a favourite roundabout left turn. it was quite quick with its torquey replaced camshaft.
it only needed servicing, a couple or steering boxes. (secondhand!) and a self-repair to the gearbox front pack seals..., and the said camshaft in about 3yrs. oh, and a troublesome alternator. as the kids get to young drivers, im sure I ill buy one to keep as a mudplugger.

happy days indeed. I like looking at them thesedays. but they will never drive like the Fatty.
