Does anyone on here buy their wood in for a log fire or the like and if so how much do you pay?

The going rate for logs in west wales is about £70 per cubic metre and that's a mix of hard and soft wood cut to your required size |

Refuse to pay for wood at the moment with so much lying around. My chainsaw has been working overtime and I've got enough to leave for a year or so to dry out properly.

It's beech, so definitely hard. Ask the supermodels. |

I was told don't burn it for two years, which is one reason I stock so much - as green wood is cheaper and I have the space. |

I've always just covered it to be honest and in the past my gran folks and parents would just have a decent stock at the sides of the ingle nook and just empty one side at a time and then refil as by the time you got to the other side it was fully dried out.

Have you considered contacting tree surgeons/landscape gardeners? They often are happy to deliver wagon loads of cut up trees and dump it for you for nothing. It costs them money to take to the dump otherwise.

Have you phoned local suppliers? They will tell you exactly how much wood costs to buy.
