Range Rovers and Dogs?

As part of the buying process we always consider our dogs as they generally come with us holidays, weekends away etc. Normally I would use the VW transporter as they are on the large side but know I would want to use the RR on occasion otherwise why buy one to leave standing about. The obvious question is getting them in and out safely, considered dog ramps etc but most I've seen are flimsy to say the least. Know I'm leaving myself wide open for some p*** taking here (feel free) but how have you got round the problem as it will definitely help me when questioned by wife Wink

Mods: sorry if posted in the wrong section, feel free to move if required.

When I've carried dogs, they've jumped in and out themselves. I guess it's a problem if the dog is big and old/lazy.

How about a pic of the dogs - we're all dog lovers here? Smile

I was just going to say that myself, we have 2 old(ish) working spaniels, both 11 years old, they used to be able to jump in themselves, but now they get their front paws on the tailgate and we lift them in, they jump out OK though!

I'll post a more recent one of him at ten months when home but let's say he's over 40kg and not fat with lots of growing to do.. Cool

I've got 2 12 year-old Border Collies and I use a tintent step. One of the cheap plastic ones which can be bought for a fiver at most caravan accessories places. Kept in the boot of my (now) D3 and I chuck it on the floor, they use it to jump in, I pick it up and put it in the boot for the other end.

Also helps to remember to use access height on the car.

Pitsnow has a couple of Bernese like that.

Lovely dogs - drop by if you're ever taking them to the home land. Smile

Thanks for the offer Kurt, I take it I can book a Swiss-Chalet that allows Bernese to stay... Wink

Your Berner are looking great. The puppys are adorable. Shame they grow so quick.

This is what we use for our Lily (4) and Bear(1)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SOLVIT-PET-RAMP-62...B000RUJEUU

They last about 1-2 years before you need to buy a new one. Otherwise it is fine.
The ramp may be short for the height of a FFRR though.

We bought a Ford Galaxy as a dog car.
How happy are you with the VW? What model do you use?

I looked long and hard before I bought the Galaxy.
It is not perfect but big enough for 2 Berner.

Edidted to say I have an address in Grindelwald for a Chalet that allows dogs if you need one. Been there in 2012 with Lily, was great.
