Sat Nav Upgrade

Apologies if you've all seen this question before . On forum advice I sent my faulty mk3 sat nav back to the seller . I looked around Google and Ebay and the part no. YIB000080 was the one to go for to upgrade the 2004 unit . I bought a new one , but the fittings are completely different . Please help me hang on to what remains of my sanity .Is there an adaptor required ? Thanks , Ian .

These cars only ever had the BMW mk3 sat nav as standard. The upgrade unit is a BMW mk4 unit, and as it was never fitted to a land rover will not be a land rover part / part number.

The unit will look exactly like your old one but with DVD on the front.

Have a look on eBay for BMW mk4 sat nav.

Will prob be from an x5 or 5 series of about 2004 to 2006 vintage......

We'll worth the upgrade. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Something like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bmw-e46-M3-MK4-D...3cdaf684a6

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-mk4-dvd-sat-...4acebb5072

You may need to change the startup screen from a BMW one to a land rover one. Plenty of info on the net about that and newer nav disks are also on the bay.

If it doesn't fit you have the wrong one - the MKIV is a direct plug in replacement - as per Mr Dronfield. Smile

Can I ask a stupid question, but what are the benefits of changing? What makes the Mk4 better than the RR unit?

The MK IV is horrible, but it does work.

The MK III is almost totally useless. It's like some atari video game from the 80's. The maps are also over 10 years old.

I did the upgrade from mk3 to mk4 and it works great. but I am stuck with the bmw logo. mine was from a mini I believe. I tried to burn a RR splashscreen but it sent it a bit haywire, and blue screened it for a while. I tried a couple of different burns, but managed to get it working again. but still on the bmw logo. its a good nav, for its neatness and ease of use. though I need the name of road as not currently doing a 7 digit postcode. is there a better way of getting said RR splashscreen, and 7 digit postcode? anyone got a spare upgrade disc? I have looke dall round forums. and its currently on the latest software, (from memory) I think I need to 'back version', and then 'up version'. but im at a loss....
ps. I used matt stevensons RR page for the splash....
thanks.

I burnt Matts software and it's fine. However, for some reason I can't turn off speed camera alerts anymore and the scale has changed in that the 75 yards option isn't there anymore.

I'll try that.
When I had the facility to turn it off, the language did use to change to French. I had a play around in the Navcoder settings and changed all 3 languages to GB to try and get round this. Since then, the on/off in the config menu has gone.
