I don't know if this helps, or is even relevant. but I did wrap the lower grey bits round the heater controls and the clock as I didn't like them, One of these days I will also do round the screen - maybe.. I also did the sides along the centre console. All pretty easy actually.

I have now watched the vinyl going on other cars and decided to have a pop myself....I dont have patience is abundance so we'll see how it goes. Vinyl ordered..

Am going to spray the from lower bar...I have a tin of Ford stardust silver off Wifey's old Fiesta Zetec-S, that'll do nicely.

Ok, I am not CTC and I won't pretend to be either...but after being told I'd need to wait around 3-4 weeks to get my car in mates paint and wrapping workshop just to do a few bits I decided to go for it;

stage 1 - roll car into garage, mask up, rub down with WnD, primer, 4 coats ford stardust silver paint as thats what i had on the shelf, 4 coats laquer...leave in heated garage over night...

stage 2 - roll car back out and take photo for you lot !

i have just wrapped the door handle surrounds and the centre 2 parts around the clocks,the trouble i had was the grey finish on the parts nothing will stick to them so i had to rub them down back to the grey plastic to get the wrap to stick ,was well worth it and cheaper than piano black covers,looks good in black and only 20 quids worth of wrap and still some left over to do the gear stick panel

if you have any wrap left over then stick it on your sill as protection,

I did my front grill with the carbon fibre about a year ago - which worked quite well I think.



I then went on to do the wing mirror covers and side vents, which were chrome - not my cup of tea!

The side vents worked ok, but the wing mirrors were not great - one the fake cf was wrapped around, they were a sod to put back on, and have now started to split around the edges (about 9 months later).

I too have been looking at the dipping technique, but not got anywhere with it yet... l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

you're probably right Nick, straight flat surfaces tend to be a lot easier...

That's right Stan. They said it can be done but the film has to be so hot to move that it often tears of shrinks quickly after application so paint is best. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Ok, so here's my first run with this vinyl wrapping stuff. To be honest once it's heated, and with a flat surface it's very easy to work with...however if there are any curves and changes in direction its goes like warm cling film or chewing gum so not that easy. I wish I had waited for a second pair of hands to hold heat gun but nonetheless I am pretty chuffed with my job and the whole thing cost £5.14

I am going to redo it in the summer when the air is warmer and I have more light and time, but for now here is what I have done with a touch over a fiver, not much patience and very little time !
