Radio without Key?

I thought one has to hold down the power button to get the radio on?

Mine doesnt do this, it also doesnt lower when you press the access button on the drivers door when the key is out of the ignition. Could the two be related?

There is a very short time delay on the access button after the engine is stopped, not sure if the key still needs to be in with ignition off, got a feeling it will work for about 15 seconds after key removal as long as no doors have been opened. Discovery 4 HSE

I can turn my radie/cd etc on without the key, I just press the audio power button. It also appears to limit the volume level, presumably to reduce current draw on the battery. As for access button, with the ingniton off (but key still in) I think I have a few seconds to hit the button else nothing happens, but I always do it just prior to turning the ignition off and before anyone opens their doors as a rule. Steve

Suspension changes WILL not occur with an open door. Also all windows etc will cease to be powered after opening the doors.....

Must admit never tried dropping suspension after pressing STOP......but then I'm 6ft tall so I don't actually use the midget setting Twisted Evil

A/V systems will work when you press power on (on the unit). It is reduced volume and will cut out when it senses low voltage.

Pressing MAX will fire up your fans (with engine off) if the engine bay temp is hot - these will run for 20 minutes allowing cabin warming with engine off in cold conditions. They will do 20 minute cycles UNTIL the engine bay temp has dropped so as to make no odds...... Land Rover Addict

I have a 2003 radio guys....

And yes, the keep warm function is great. I used it all winter when jumping out to go to the shop etc, come back to toasty warm car. Nearly as good as having a pre-heater.
It only works whilst the coolant is above a certain temp and whilst it's less than 15 degrees outside.

I'll be fitting a pre-heater to the car in a few months, before it gets too cold to get the max benefit of the LPG. I need to figure out where to plumb it in though.

Does anyone else have the 'total closure' enabled on their keyfob?

Don't know if this was something which was standard on SE or SC models, but my Vogue didn't have this to start with. I had it enabled at the last service and now I can open/close all the windows (and sunroof) from the keyfob. Just press and hold the 'unlock' as you approach the car on a hot day to have everything (inc roof) opened before you get to the car. By the same token, if you exit the car before closing the windows/roof you can shut it all down by holding down 'lock' on the keyfob.

TBH, I'm surprised that LR don't include this as standard. Confused The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

It was a comfort option on my 2006. I have it by default on my 2010 so I guess it's now standard. Land Rover Addict

Dan, how are you going to fit a pre heater? Isnt yours a petrol/LPG? As far as I know, you can only do this with diesel as its not flammable in the normal sense. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

The 4.4 Vogue had a pre-heater option and it's listed in microcat... You can run a wabco pre-heater on petrol no problem, just obviously need the correct model. I believe you can even convert a derv one but it's a lot of hastle.

N e hoo.... I'm going for an electrical option, similar to the Kenlowe hot start kit.
