Yes but a new mechatronic isnt that expensive, then theres the fluid to take into account too.

For info, the solenoid change solved the problem with another member having the same 3-4 shift error code. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Just an update gents I've got a gearbox man looking at it thurs/fri this week. Will let you know what he finds. It's going to be the mechatronic unit I think from the more you guys have informed and the more I have looked into it.

Good luck, Dave. There's a chance that it's not as bad as you first thought!

It's still been worked on. I've been away with work then holiday so will catch up with the shop on Monday from my last conversation with him it was pointing to a new gearbox. The difference between theory and reality is that in theory it will work. |

Just an update for everyone. The car is coming back tomorrow. It's all done. In the end it had a full gearbox recon TC, Mechatronic unit, some plates and other parts I have forgotten. I decided to bite the bullet and just get it sorted so I will never have an issue again with the box. Two water pipes at the back of the engine where leaking as well so they have been changed. The guy commented today after his test drive how well she goes looking forward to having her back tomorrow.

£3900 for the work, all in I had a rad changed and it all serviced as well. Which isn't cheap but the guy who has done it is very skilled and I trust his work. I think that's one of the most important factors.
