TDV8 oil changes etc.

As I am just looking for people's thoughts rather than technical fact I thought I would put this here in the general section. Hope that is correct.

Have been reading about the TDV8 and a couple of cases of having eaten turbos and some thinking this might be not helped by not a proper oil clean out at oil change over time from the oil being sucked out instead of dropped out.

So as my car is now at 80,000 miles I thought I would consider an interim oil change from now on at 6,000 miles done by following the wiki on here. Does anyone have experience or thoughts on putting motorflush in a TDV8 before oil change? Always did with the P38.

I know there is the issue of using it on old engines not cared for and it dislodging gunk and causing problems but this engine has been serviced on the button and is gleaming when you look inside the oil filler cap.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Don't know about the flush but definitely important to drain via both plugs as rear of sump can get gunned up if not done properly and regularly. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

ahh cheers, well it has been serviced by Land Rover main dealer all it's life and they suck it out so that means it has never had its oil sump plugs taken out so I will mostly be doing that in the next few miles.!

Hi guys.
I'm new to the site but already have saved money by following the details of how to repair the rear washer on my vehicle.
my next question.
I just had the oil changed on my tdv8,by an MTA garage unfortunately (I have an aftermarket warranty ).
the oil change seems fine but I am getting oil dripping on the left side engine mount.
the oil is not leaking from the engine as the levels are perfect.
would it be spillage from the centre of the V after the filter was lifted out.
It's doing my head in.not one oil spot on the concrete prior. now black patches wherever I park.
thanks.

Not filling spillage, oil from the filter housing removal procedure. The tech thinks the vacuum controlled engine mount has gathered oil in the rubber bellows and is then pumping small amounts onto the subframe.
we both got under it on the ramp and could find no oil leaks from the turbo pipes etc.
The patches aren't very big but really annoying.
I drove into a quite steep multi storey park today and the oil patch was pretty big.
Anyway we will get to the bottom of it eventually.
