Just a quick word to the wise.....

recently bought a 2006 td6 with c 40k under the belt... last Friday after a good trip on empty M1 to Leicestershire - came to return home to find car wouldn't do more than 50 mph and could bearly climb the slightest of inclines.. after consulting these pages I hoped that it was fuel rather than anything else causing the limp home function to be evoked.

So it turned out to be... LOW FUEL PRESSURE .. basically and annoyingly caused by lack of maintenance by the previous owner.. the fuel filter was so clogged it had over-worked the fuel pump (the one in the tank) to a point beyond repair....

One new filter and pump later was are back in business.... some garages I am told ignore fuel filter changes as its a fiddly messy dirty job - take it from me .. check its been done.

new fuel pump £160 +VAT

I think the service point for the fuel filter is 50k so that may be the reason yours hasn't been changed. A very simple job on these vehicles and shouldn't be ignored
