Stuck can't open vehicle

I have gone to unlock my RR to drive home and cannot unlock the vehicle using either remote or either key in the drivers door. Is there a way to manually unlock the car or any tips for getting inside.

The red alarm light is flashing on the dash so I guess has some power if the battery is dead.

Any help appreciated. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Had to call RAC out with the same thing a few months ago. When he arrived, the damn thing unlocked on the remote as if nothing had happened. Can't help you my friend, but good luck!!

Hi well it sounds like you may have a few problems here, that started most likely from your battery. As to why the door wont unlock from using the key in the drivers door I suspect that you may have a problem with the mechanical linkage that is connected from the key cylinder to the door latch...This could be a problem if your remote doesnt come back online.

You can also try to resync the remote by holding the unlock button and pressing the lock button 3 times, not sure this will work usually done with a key cycle in the ignition so being outside of the vechicle its a bit of a long shot but worth a try.

Worst case senero will be breaking into the vechicle which can be done if you have a few tools and are comfortable taking a few things apart...Otherwise I am afraid a tow to your local dealer will be your only option.

This may sound like a joke......but hold the remote to the side of your head while pressing the button.
Worked for me on 5 series once!

Key just turns 90 degrees in either direction no mechanical feel.

AA called, I'm the meantime I will keep trying in case it comes back to life. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

It's quite possible you have a flat battery even though there is enough voltage left to operate the alarm led.
Do you have a towbar with electrics by any chance?
If you do you could connect another battery to the 12S socket and get sufficient power to operate the locking.
If no towbar electrics you can connect to a side repeater indicator to power things up.
This assumes of course you don't have a faulty key fob(s) as well as a faulty drivers door lock.
Don't suppose you are aware of any local radio transmissions affecting the operation of the central locking?
Has happened to me twice but fortunately the key worked.
If there are any transmissions you locking may just start working again when the transmission ceases.

Are you sure you've not picked up someone else's key ?

Electrical AND mechanical failure is very bad luck

It has been mentioned before that everyone should check that their key actually opens the door manually, just for this very scenario. Holding the key to your head really does increase the range, but it does sound like a flat battery in this case. Previously..

Have you tried turning the key with the door handle pulled out wards........?

Might not work, but it worked on a 735 I had.

Bit of a long shot I know.......

Do you not have a spare key at home you can fetch ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
