Audio fault help needed

Sound system

Front speaker system has today acted odd. Turn on ignition and noticed a cracking noise from speakers radio and other audio application were not on.
Noticed the when we turned on the ignition the land rover icon was not on the centre screen
Turned radio on and the volume was only coming from the back speakers but still cracking from front
Turn ignition off then back on same problem

We have a conection point in the centre console for a phone cradle but no phone cradle no phone is conected

Stopped again this time we opened the boot and this improved the front sound a little not much. Oh and the reversing camera worked Rolling Eyes

We then switched off the ignition locked the car and walked away checked my wallet and wondered how much this will cost Big Cry

After about 30 mins i went back to the car and switch her on again and she is working properly again

Please can anyone tell me what is wrong with it if i have fixed it or will it happen again

Water ingress rear left boot area

Dry out (hair dryer/hot air gun), unplug and check all connections and clean up (you may need to remove the black plastic panel for access) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Sounds similar to my issues Glyn.

Most of the time its fine but then the 4 door speakers crackle and go off leaving sound from the boot sub only. Push the on/off knob on the radio HU and it all comes back again (until I hit another rut in the road) and it happens again. I don;t think it's the BM54 radio module.

Haven't lost any functionality in the HU (can switch between Radio/Nav etc) but the sound is muffled when it happens.

I believe mine is the DSP Amp that is on it;s way out. Keep meaning to pull it out and send off to Baris on this forum for an upgrade/fix.

Comports, you will confuse the OP by explaining the issues with your FF as its a PRE touchscreen and the OP's driving an SC so a post touchscreen model and therefore entirely different to your system/faults sir Bow down

Glyn, open the boot and check the LHS compartment for water ingress. Usually runs down from the rubber boot seal failing/expanding in the top corners allowing damp in... You will need to check this thoroughly as when damp gets into the connectors/plugs it will start to grow green slime which corrodes the terminals and eventually they will snap off inside the plugs giving you intermittant problems/sound dropouts etc and will cost £££££ to change amps, ecu's, dvd players, BT units etc etc etc...

Craig Thumbs Up

Try wiggling the speaker input / output plugs on the top of the DSP.
Could be just a bad connection on one of the pins, I had it.
Cleaned all the pins and plugs, no problem since.
May well be due to water ingress initially therefore you really need to think about replacing the tailgate door seal. Thumbs Up

Just noticed Craigs comment re possibly a Touchscreen you have if so My comments may not help you.

It's the large black box rearmost in the LH rear side compartment.
It has 3 plugs on the top of it, you want the rearmost plug and the front plug which have a load of speaker wires going into them. Be very gentle removing the plugs, the pins in the sockets on the DSP have a habit of corroding and breaking off.
