A couple of general questions about my new RR.

1) Is there a way to decode the VIN# to see exactly what model I have and what was fitted when new (I was told it was a Vogue and has Vogue on the boot but has heated rear seats and steering wheel etc...) and to confirm the model year.

2) The RR is on a 55 plate but a 2006 model year (newer grill and touch screen sat nav) will this have the BMW or Jaguar engine and is their an easy way to tell?

Ref VIN decoding - if you provide it to a dealer, they can tell you, I believe. Site sponsor Duckworth's (contact Dan) may help. You're right to speculate and not trust the badge ! However, Vogue spec has the below at 06 MY -
Heated seats (all), heated screen, heated wheel.
Sunroof.
Park sensors FR & RR
19" 7 spoke wheels
HK audio with 6 disc changer
These could have been specced on an HSE, but unlikely to have them all.
If your VIN has 6A in it, then it's an 06 MY, and it will have the Jag AJV8 engine. And the 6 speed ZF gearbox.
I've got one . . . . and it's very good.
Easy peasy !

If the gearbox has 6 gears it's the jag engine and zf 6 sp box - er, obviously.

Mine has 6A in the VIN but it's the TD6 on a 55 plate, thanks to Dan at Duckworth I have the build spec which gives a build date of 27/06/2005  2005 Range Rover Vogue with Supercharged Accessories
GONE 2001 Discovery TD5 ES
GONE 1995 Discovery 300 tdi GS

It's not clear whether Rej's is a petrol or diesel. 2006 4.2 SC
