LED Indicator Upgrade For Early Cars

There are a few threads on here about LED lights, but nothing mentioned about indicators.

I asked in one of the threads about indicators, but nothing came up.

What bulbs do I need to do the indicators ?

Has anyone done them ?

Thanks

like the rest of the bulbs i have messed around with them, the prob with the indicator is you dont get the light projection,it looks ok and you get that instant on/off but it lacks that intensity, unlike mer'c and bmw's they have magnification lenses in front of the leds, saying that there are more and more led bulbs with higher output coming on the market all the time, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

IMO they are dangerous on the rear as the brakelamps are so bright...

Thanks gents.

Thats answered that one then.

I did think that more people would have done it if it were easily possible.

Didn't realise the BMW's and Merc's I'd been seeing had magnifying lenses. Makes sense now.

Will leave as is.

All the best

It was the immediate on/off LED thing I was after more than the brightness.........

I'm not doing it if the light is compromised.

Will have to do a full LED rear light upgrade if I'm after the full effect.

Can't see me doing that.

Cheers

In a bit of a thread resurrection, I've seen some Cree bulbs that throw light in a wider pattern, and wondered if they would be better as indicator bulbs ?

As I mentioned above, I'm after more of the instant on and off of the led lights, but want the car to look stock.

I see the bulbs are standard 21w bayonet fitting, but I'd need white ones to replace them.

Do any of you led experts out there have any ideas ?

I've looked on eBay and done a google search, but all sort of results come out.

The Cree bulbs are also slightly bigger, and I'm not sure how much room there is in the rear light unit.....

Thanks Stan.

It was that thread that got me thinking about it again actually, but the links in there are for amber indicators, and I'm after white. I am struggling to find a white version.

Will be a bit pricey to buy all the bulbs and get it wrong.

Pretty sure the Cree led lights will be better and more accurately duplicate the light throw of an old fashioned bulb......but may be wrong. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I don't doubt there is a white bulb equiv, problem is nowadays most cars need orange bulbs and it's all I get if I do a search for Cree indicator bulbs.

If I can satisfy myself that they work as I want on the rear, I'll do the fronts and sides, but again, need the white equivs of what's in the link above.

Mark, I've emailed 'my seller' to ask if they do the white ones you want as opposed to amber. I've bought a fair few bulbs off them. They are reputable and will be truthful with any reply. Response pending.

The all round indicators I've fitted are spot on. Clear consistent light, not too bright but crisp and modern. Very OE looking.

Thumbs Up
