Failed Dipped beam headlight-again

I got 2 new bulbs and fitted them a couple of weeks ago and all was fine, today though the same one that flickered before started doing it again, I turned the headlights off then on and the light went out completely, swapped bulbs and still nothing, connections look clean and arn't corroded where you connect to the bulb, anyone got any ideas?, I would rather avoid replacing the whole unit if I can and don't have a clue where to start when it comes to HID lights.

there's a ballast inside the headlight , i think that has failed or is failing...they can be brought separately or you can buy a headlight complete..
does the failed bulb work in the other headlight? ... - .- -.

Hi,
the ballast (square aluminium unit YWC000500 or similar) mounted on the rear of the headlight unit can sometimes suffer from water ingress into the plug and fail, it's unusual for the inside igniter to fail.
