front screen powers up but remains blank. (needs nav unit and tv vid module)

Implies the Nav & TV modules have been removed !

Can only imagine it's had a leak and they got wet - but quite why you'd not replace them before selling is a different question.

Could be anything wrong with the system & no way to check...... could be an easy fix or very expensive.....

Can you replace the unit for the newer one?
Just checked the mot history and all seems above board with regards to the mileage.

You could install the newer BM54 sat nav - not sure if it even needs the TV module to function, but fairly sure it needs the sat nav

The TV module would need replacing anyway for digital if you wanted to use it.

The problem is that you can't tell if there is anything more major gone - unless you can borrow a nag unit to take down there & test it out.

BM54 is the radio tuner.
You could fit a Mark 4 sat nav unit on a plug and play basis. It wouldn't display on the screen however unless a tv tuner was fitted or bye-passed by fitting the satnav in a slightly different position so that cables can be connected.
Mark 4 sat nav unit and digital tv tuner about £300 each.
The tv tuner requires a bit more work than plug and play but not difficult.
The chances are the old units suffered from water damage and if replaced would "probably" work.
The connector plug pins often corrode but these can be cleaned with a bit of care.
The upper boot door seal probably needs replaced before anything else was done.
Unfortunately there's no real way of testing if replacement units would bring the system back to life before purchase.
Is the DSP amp in situ, if not about £400.

According to the seller, the dealer he bought it from took it out to put into another range rover which was sold and when the bloke came to view it he just asked for the money off to do it himself but he never bothered with it..
I'm never going to use the tv so just want sat nav and obviously radio/CD player.

What would I need to buy just for that??

You can bye-pass the tv tuner but to do this you have to reposition the satnav position slightly as the connecting cables aren't long enough. Although I suppose you could splice in extra cable to achieve the same result.
You could always buy an old analogue tv tuner and fit it. You wouldn't need to reposition or extend then.

If I was to just refit the original modules so I can get it working, would it need to have the tv module even if I don't want to watch tv and also how much would I be looking at?

Embarassed Oops - Mk 4 - that's what I meant - it's been a while Whistle

I was trying to remember why I installed a BM54 and it was so that I could get an Aux input for an iPod.
