If you only have a week and kids want to ski for example leisurely drives to destination with stop off's are simply not an option. Plus all cars out of menningen are equipt with new winter tyres. We had a Winter prepared Skoda Octavia Estate last year with 6 miles on the clock which was more than adequate for the job.. Very Happy

Horses for courses I guess. Thumbs Up

A winter prepared brand new Skoda Octavian Est and flights for 4 for under £200 wow... That's some deal... Struggling to hire a basic rental for that!

Not for four Craig please don't be silly.

The £200 referred to a recent single 2 night trip I made. (Do you need proof?)

The Octavia was our family Ski holiday last year was £215 all in for the week.(Car that is!)

Just booked this years 4-Door Wagon (could be Octavia or similar) £230 for week with Europecar out of Menninggen.

Are you going to try and contradict every post I make going forward?

Gaz - I'm not contradicting you at all - as I said I like flying and often do. My only point is against Ryanair, otherwise we are in bed together on this. Shocked

to much hassle for me ...

drive to the airport
leave the FF in an airport carpark Neutral
wait for the flight
sit next to a very large person
try and find the car rental desk

... and then do all that in reverse... Shocked ... - .- -.

OK proof it is:

Ryanair out of Stanstead to Memmingen in January £49 return:

Car hire out of memmingen:

Total: £191:04 as per my last trip.

PS: Driving by Tunnel and fuel @ 25MPG would be £450 ish. and take maybe two days there and two days back instead of 1 hour flying and saving £270 for accommodation. (Driving distance calculation only to meminggen not destination for direct comparison - these quotes were done today)

Horses for courses thats all Very Happy

Stan,

For my two day business trip above Valet Parking at Stanstead is £35 you drive direct to terminal and hand over keys and the Memmingen Europcar desk is just outside gate. I was in car within 10 minutes (no queues at memmy) last time driving through the snowshine Thumbs Up

Horses for Courses just highlighting an alternative for anybody considering a short cheap trip to a Xmas Market in Bavaria/Austria. Thumbs Up

PS: Chances of me sitting next to you are slim.... Laughing
