For want of a better description, my drivers door handle is a little sticky. It seems to be catching slightly about half way through the travel when opening the door.

Presumably there is a cable from the handle to the mechanism - does anyone know if its possible to oil it without taking too much of the door apart?

I've sprayed some WD40 down the sides of the handle, on the mechanism and on the visible internals when removing the lower rubber grommet.

you might temporally solve the problem with lubrication but i fear its the cable breaking down..i'd replace it asap before it breaks...there's one cable from the outside handle to the latch and another from the inside to the latch... ... - .- -.

Are you referring to the inside or outside handle?

I have a problem with my outside handle where I need to pull it really hard to open the door, about twice the effort than other door handles. Am wondering whether your solution can be applied to my problem

My problem is with the outside handle, the internal handle is fine

Seems to point to the cable between the outside handle and the latch mechanism breaking down as per Stan's post

I will have a look through the workshop manual to see what's involved with taking the door card off to get to the handle/mechanism cable, with a view to replacing it

Same happened to mine. Kept putting it off then pop! couldnt get in the door. Used the remote to put the windows down and opened the door from the inside handle till i got it fixed. '04 td6 se
