Why don't people pimp-tint their house windows to protect their precious children/hide things from burglars?

Looks terrible, more so when only the rear windows can be legally done in a darker tint. Just look at the L322 at the top of the page - like an Irish VAT-dodge van.

Completely ruins the look of the car by splitting the greenhouse unnaturally - cars aren't designed to have that visual break. You might as well paint your rear wheels black and front silver.

Agreed Trommel, I hate tints, if you could do all the side windows legally as per the USA spec it wouldn't look too bad, but in GB the half van side tint looks silly. Also can't really see the point given the weak summers we get, they are a pain at night. The only thing I would find them useful for would be on the boot windows to conceal sporting guns.

Guess to be fair though its personal choice, but I personally wouldn't entertain them - plus all my friends think they are naff 😷 and only used by armed robbers, drug pushers or footballers

Mrs Van D wants the tint but I'm not fully convinced. With a Disco Commercial as my work tool I'm bothered that the RR would also look a bit too commercial.

@ Gazellio, what are your thoughts on colours/interiors that tinting suits?

OK....

Cairns Blue & Tonga Green can look Good:

Black can look odd:

Grey is OK but light interiors can look odd:

Silver, Giverny, Ipenema etc can work:

Why does it make it hard to reverse? That's why you have side windows and those mirror things... Whistle Whistle Rolling Eyes

Odd ... all mine have been tinted at the rear and I've never had an issue reversing (but as pointed out there are mirrors!!!) - Reversing camera is just a gimmick to make people who don't have one go 'ooooo a reversing camera'. Sensors and eyes on the mirrors works best for me Laughing

If you've got front tints then I guess you have a big problem in that at night you might not be able to see the side mirrors Rolling with laughter Land Rover Addict

I sometimes see a Stornoway grey car with an ivory interior in and around Glasgow with no blacked out windows and it does look rather classy! Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Personally I like privacy glass, clear glass would put me off a potential buy.

For those who profess to like it - do you not care about how it splits the greenhouse so awkwardly with only the rear windows tinted?

I can't see how anyone could consider that a good look.
