Well it had to come, a sad and expensive day for those who have chosen to remove theirs.

Does it? I couldn't see anything that referred to the egr or the cat.

Not the MOT change, but the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Amendment) (No. 3) 2000

EGR removal is not refered to in the MOT Documents but I think this might cover removal of the EGR valve.
I don't doubt the bye-passing of an EGR valve will be included in the MOT in due course.

"It is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3)) to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of a DPF will almost invariably contravene these requirements, making the vehicle illegal for road use. The potential penalties for failing to comply with Regulation 61a are fines of up to £1,000 for a car or £2,500 for a light goods vehicle."

Guess who's just ordered an EGR blacking kit? Crying or Very sad

Don't know if it will or already does apply to Switzerland. Next Swiss MOT is not due for 2 years though so I could always put it back in for the test.

Seems to refer to vehicles that were built from 2001.

Luckily my trusty old Disco II with EGR removed is 1999. Wink

Think I'm ok, no DPF on a TD6, or quite a few of the TDV8s either I think?.

Have the dpf cut open, remove all the internals and weld it back up again so it 'looks' like it is still fitted but it is free flowing!

They're not allowed to dismantle your car at the MOT and the egr lives underneath the engine covers.

The exhaust gas test will surely identify whether a DPF is present or not.

^ The soot lining the exhaust pipes certainly will.

Love how they always threaten people with a large fine. I've yet to see anyone receive one!
