Hi all - my first post!

Looking to rejoin the FFRR fold after a few years away (1 classic 3.9 & 2 x P38 DSEs ) - is the AUX heater standard or optional extra on the 4.4 TDV8 Vogue ? Does heated screen form part of the pack if an extra.....??

Can someone describe how it operates please - I know it pre-heats / defrosts at the flip of a remote (I think) - anyone got one? Sounds brill....

If you have the fob it's great, you get into a nice warm car after 30 minutes (full cycle). It won't go anywhere however....

Joking aside - you need a good battery and not a short journey regime to use it. Otherwise you are down to 10-15 minutes of it on and pray for the engine start

All L322 diesels have a pre-heater but the remote option is well ... an option! Land Rover Addict

I have a 2012 4.4 TDV8 Vogue bought from Italy, so might be different specs.
Although there is the Fuel Burner Heater - an additional heater unit - installed in my car, I cannot use it as park heating or pre heating the cabin (without running the engine), it is solely for aiding the normal HVAC unit`s heating (during running the engine) while that is cold.
As far as I know the aux ventillation was already one option I do not have. This would provide additional/remote ventillation of the cabin, but not utilizing the FBH. The second option would be the aux ventillation with heating function. Then you would be able to set the heating/cooling times on the touch screen. The third level of options would be a remote control unit...
All TDV8 have the FBH, but petrol models does not come with it, except if opted for that.
I assume all 4.4 TDV8 have the hardware but lacking the sofware part.
I`m still wondering if it is possible to upgrade/install aux ventillation/heating software and functionality with the fancy tools on a 2010-12 FFRR?  4.4 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue MY12

Thanks chaps - glad I asked this because many ads say "with aux heater" but whilst that may be true, you could not necessarily use it without either the timer or the fob option - correct ?

I think that if in the ads they advertise that it has aux heating then they refer to the function, not the hardware. Thus I think if a vehicle is advertised with aux heater that means that it is capable to do the pre heating (20-30mins without engine running) and settings can be made on touchscreen, but not necessarily through the remote control device.
Most of the TDV8 owners are unaware they have the FBH unit built in, if they do not have the aux heating function/software installed on the car. Honesly for me it also seems like useless, it just assists the normal heating on certain conditions... 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue MY12

Ok - we have a TDV8 for sale today that is listing both "Auxiliary Heater" and "Park Heating With Remote Control" - from the above answers which I have just re-read, I think I understand BUT how would the aux heater operate on it's own - do you have to throw a switch. What's the point and/or a circumstance when you would use it....

All UK 4.4 TDV8 vehicles will have a FBH. It is fitted to aid starting the engine in cold conditions and to provide better HVAC performance (heating) when you start the car, rather than waiting for 10 miles of driving to get any heat.

Timed Climate (with remote) is a combination of software and receiver hardware + key fob that allows you to use the FBH to heat the car when the engine is not running. There are various parameters that the FBH needs to operate correctly and early TDV8 4.4 models did have battery issues.

Late model 11 - 12 MY TDV8 4.4 vehicles should have the battery problems resolved and I know 12MY defiantly has a revised battery system (Gel battery).

there was a recall at some point I think, so a car you potentially buy may have been updated. If the seller is a LR dealership they will know and if not you can ask them to put the VIN into Topix and find out.

FBH's are great (he says currently sat at home waiting for the battery to charge enough to start the RR) ........ Land Rover Addict

retro fitted a fbh on my ff in the summer but not sure if its working to its full potential

Q:how warm should the cab get after 30 mins of park heater use ?
mine will de-frost the car and you can feel the difference in temp as you get in but not tostey as advertised.
it runs for 30 mins, exhaust hot (as i would expect) but burner and hoses just warm(would expect these to be hot).
the engine hoses are not hot to the touch and temp gauge still on blue when ignition is switched on( is this normal ?)

MY10 and previous - quite toastie

MY11 and onwards due to the reduced cycle time, not a lot.
FBH only really starts producing enough heat to go into the cabin after about 8 minutes, and then 9 minutes later it is shutting down.....
