What would you do with this one?

Can anyone please advise me including if I decided to sell, where they think would be the best place to try and sell one of these then (ebay fees seem dear even if you don't manage to sell it)?

This is not a plug, I just don't know.

I've got a plate my parents bought for me for Christmas over 20 years ago I've had it on retention for over 10 years as I feel I've outgrown it/ would be embarrassed to put it on a car as I'm 'no longer a young lad'.

Retaining it has been more sentimental value than anything else, although I suppose it could appeal to a BMW 5 series owner, an Audi A5 owner or to someone sharing my first name or with those initals or who sees something else of relevance etc.

What to do?

Thanks.

Thumbs Up

You can still buy short 5 digit plates on DVLA for peanuts compared to what dealers ask for them...

Speak to reg transfers of any other high ranking reg selling company and ask them what they value it at, and what they will return you if they advertise it/sell it on your behalf Thumbs Up

If you use any of the well known vendors such as Regtransfers, be prepared to part with around 20-25% in commission.

Thanks all. One of those national number plate companies has said they would sell it for £1000 and take a £200 fee for selling it but AFAIK, the prices they quote seem to be over inflated and not many seem to sell...

Interestingly enough, I once saw a number I have on retention for sale on one of these sites. I enquired about it and was told it was for sale at twice the price I paid for it!

Funny thing is, it wasn't for sale and when I told them it was mine and they didn't have the owners permission to sell it, they very quickly removed it! Thumbs Up

FWIW, I don't think "cherished" numbers are the money maker they once were (if they ever were). There are just too many of them and unless you have something REALLY rare, you might not even be able to give it away. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I bought three Direct from DVLA.

No hidden charges what you see is what you pay all in with transfer fee included.

B13 SPC on my works van
D13 SPC on my Full Fat
and got my son B13 SWC on his french crap saxo Laughing Laughing

All of these plates were also for sale on other sites but would of cost me more money looked cheaper but they then add VAT and a transfer fee making them a lot more in the end. Wink
