I guess the reason is that there are people that make considerable money from 'botox facelifts' hence it is ridiculed to put older wheels on a younger one !!

I think it is LRs sales software that is to blame, they have a whole lot of library pictures and can then change wheels types and trim to match what they are trying to sell.

When I bought mine the pictures were not of the actual car but a library car, the background normally gives it away.

With respect to the posters that tell us facelifters not to bother:
unfortunately we (well, me actually) cant afford or don't see the draw of having a new shape top dollar car that still looks like a 10 yr older model (similarly) and take the economy route, and as such, suffer a much less linier slope of depreciation, and consequently, suffer less in the London streets lottery of minor/major damage in our ownership. I don't want to argue my point, but many new(er) owners think it's madness to change the bumpers and lights, to jazz up an older one. indeed a 2010 facelift to a 2002 car is a lot of money. but I did mine, 2002 to a 2006 type because someone was junking those 2006 parts cheaply, (facelifting!) and I needed new front lights, (brittle parts inside adjusters had failed on both. which would have cost £800 each! (new) I did my 02-06 lift all for about £600. it looks like what I would have liked to buy. and I have a nice car. for a good price. and very little depreciation (champage glass with lemonade bottle?) but it's NOT 'all fur coat- and no knickers!'
and I'm driving on new 2010 AB wheels with silver nuts.

I couldn't agree more with the above, I only wanted a vehicle for occasional use I have only covered 3900 miles this year, I didn't not want the depreciation of a 2010+ model. I would easily have lost 5000+ per year with depreciation, my car with the facelift owes me 12,500, its a 2003 4.4v8 54000 miles I'm sure after 3 years I will get at least half that back. So for me and a few others the facelift makes good financial sense. I wouldn't have thought about doing a facelift until I saw the conversions that cam tech and gazellio had done when I was looking on this forum. Remember the world would be very boring if everyone did the same thing. Here's mine

if I had another £20k to spend I would buy more cars!
I haver a few classic cars too. they don't look like they did when they left the factory either.

It's never been about trying to convince anybody my car is worth more than it is, I wanted a project to play with and this came along at the right time. To be fair after having it for the last year as great a car as it is I now find myself looking for a new project to play with so you might see the car for sale on here soon and this is the biggest reason I don't waste money on cars depreciating, because I get bored to easily! But I get the point about spending thousands of pounds, but it's only a waste if you can't afford it

I can understand why you would do it - but to me the fact I can tell instantly from the side profile it's not the year it's wearing is the reason why I wouldn't do it

When I traded my 5.0 for a 3.6 TDV8 it had an SC grill on it, that didn't last long. I do (and it is my own personal opinion) not agree with making something look like something it is not. There are many subtle differences as the years between 2002 and 2013 moved on, but to me the interior is the place I sit, and that's the place I would improve. Sadly when I moved from my 03/2006 SC with its BMW comfort seats to the 5.0 - the comfort levels dropped. The leather wore quickly (and I am not some large framed person, I'm only 11 1/2 stone), it was disappointing.

Anyhoo - the point is revel in the vehicle you have (for me) - and don't kill me, I think the RR is an offroad vehicle and use it as such, so the 'sports' kits and footballer add ons seem to make the vehicle a bit of a joke  Land Rover Addict

With reference to the interior of the older cars looking more dated, I think this is probably the reason why I have become a bit bored with the vehicle. I do like the creature comforts but the lack of tech does let the car down other than that it is a great vehicle. Perhaps I will have to suffer some depreciation and look to upgrade,

I don't mind the look of the old rims. I found out the hard way that the 20" rims my car came with are rather delicate. I found the easiest way around that was an old D1 for the offroading. However, if I'd continued offroading in the FFRR, I would definitely have got the cheapest set of old rims that would fit and put some proper off-road tyres on them.
