Heated screen problem, how do I check it?

My drivers side heated screen is not working on my 2003 td6. I have read various posts and some seem to say that if 1 entire side of the screen doesn't work its unlikely to be the screen at fault and others say it is the screen!! The passenger side works ok so its not the fuse. I now need to test if I have a feed at the connection to the screen (drivers side) how do I do this? I tried to remove the airbag logo on the A pillar but it wont budge!? Also do I need to disconnect the battery so as not to set the air bag off then reconnect when I test the feed?

May be easier to remove the top dash panel, then you can get at the wires to test ? .

Someone must know how to get to these connections? I have searched all over and just cant find a guide or even a location (other than the bottom of the screen somewhere) Are they under the bonnet or under the dash?

I had an issue with a windscreen replacement where either, it was defective, or the connectors were damaged during installation. (Solution was a new windscreen.)

When the mechanics were talking about it, they gestured towards the A pillars, so I assumed that's where the wires were. They didn't remove the dash fitting the windscreen.

I know it's not a precise answer, but it's all I know.

Pretty sure they are under the scuttle panel, take the plastic push-in clips out, ease it away from the glass either side and have a look....if correct, you will have to take the A pillar covers off etc to remove the scuttle.

Sorry, missed your reply, I mean the outer A pillar covers, they wrap over the plastic scuttle finisher, I seem to recall the connections are in front of the passenger, if you look in the wiki there is a copy of the WSM and this will give you a definitive description....

Thanks for the reply, I have had a look through the wsm and cant really find much on the heated screen at all. But I will get the scuttle off and have a look. Thumbs Up
