Possible Transmission Fault - Help Please

Firstly, hello all sorry I've been away for quite a while.

I need some advice from the technically minded amongst you before I part with my hard earned cash at the Stealers.

A couple of months back I had "TRANSMISSION FAULT" pop up on the dash. It happened only twice and hasn't reappeared since.

Separately and may be a few weeks later I had a strange issue show up at slow speed (around 20 mph) and turning into a side road. It was a grinding noise (similar to the noise when HDC is working) and the DSC light flashing. This was coupled with a loss of power and it only lasted a couple of seconds at most.

The DSC issue has happened 3 times now and I think I show get it fixed now, especially with winter starting to take hold.

I initially thought a faulty ABS sensor but I think it maybe a little more complicated than that. Do any of you have any ideas or seen this before? Nothing popped up in the search but this can't be completely unique.

Thanks in advance.

Regarding the later issues, they sound a lot like the symptoms I had when my airbag was getting ready to pop... Look thru my old posts? Under 'signs of imminent air spring failure'....

Thanks for all of the replies - Stan I was saying I had been away from the forum for a while... The car has been driven regularly!

Okay I have just discovered something else that may or may not be related. Yesterday, after fitting the winter wheels, I thought I would pop down the road and on the way back came down the drive in low range and HDC on. On selecting forward gear a short grinding noise is heard from he front when pulling away and the brake peddle vibrates, like HDC is activating. It only lasts a second at most and the same is true for reverse gear also. It only happens on the first pull away following the gear change, subsequent stop/starts did not produce the symptoms and before it is mentioned, yes I have had the front diff recall completed.

As suggested above about the air spring I have had the car all the way up to extended mode and left it for a few hours. The car remained at height and the compressor remained shutdown for the duration.

Now my understanding is that the DSC and HDC are both controlled through the instrument cluster for on/off commands and the actual operation is then dealt with by the ABS module. Does anybody has access to the traction contol system section in the WSM? My copy just directs me to the supercharged model manual which is useful (not).

Cheers

my thoughts would be the abs sensor tbh especially as when you fitted your winter wheels the juddering appeared ,maybe you knocked/moved the sensor?.. ... - .- -.

Okay just thought I would update you on this one.

Had the car in at Listers in Droitwich and there were no fault codes stored. I wasn't able to replicate the issue but did my best to describe it in a lot of detail. After checking the visually checking the suspension (airbags and airlines) the technician discovered the ride height sensors on both front wheels to be loose with corroded connections. These have been cleaned up and fixed back in place. Hopefully this will have fixed it! 06MY 4.4 V8 Autobiography Cairns Blue with Navy & Parchment Interior
