Pulling The Trigger on 2010 MY 5.0 S/C Autobiography - Help?

Hi all

I am coming back to full fat ownership tomorrow (3 previous models) when i take collection of a 2010 MY 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography and i just wanted to ask if there are any common things to look out for on the 2009> year RR?

I am aware of the issues with the earlier ones, do any exist in the newer version? Is trim quality all up to the job, my 2003 wasn't but the 2007 was much better.

Is the Bluetooth pretty good in this year, the 2007 was in need of update after i bought mine (used) but the LR website says that my Lumia 800 Windows Phone works when i entered the chassis no.

Any general suggestions welcome, i havent seen it yet so will take my time, armed with help from here if needed?

Thanks in advance

Carl

I also came from a 2007 Vogue TDV8 to a Supercharged 5.0L AB, never regretted my purchase. Fuel consumption is way more acceptable than I was led to believe... unless you floor it of course but it is not a car to drive flat out all the time anyway.
I have a problem with my FBH, car is at the dealer at the moment, the fans work as programmed but without the heat, I have a problem with the DVD player also but other than that the car is great, I've had no flat battery issue, the car is a dream to drive, so much smoother than the Diesel and with no turbo lag. You will very much enjoy your new car.

CSK,

I didn't think they fitted the FBH to petrol models?

to the OP,

I came from a 2008MY TDV8 to a 5.0 SC AB, and the fuel economy is lower, mine is about 15mpg but I am a spirited driver who enjoys the speed Twisted Evil .

They just got better and better, but theres always LTBs that may be needed, I am having a few niggles sorted under warranty at the moment, but its all good Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE

I can confirm they did as an option (at least on post 2009, MY2010 onwards). I have FBH (operated by remote control or timer on the central display unit).

Thanks for the comments. Im coming from a Bentley GT that Im bitterly disappointed with so Im hopeful this one hits the spot.

My last one was a TDV8 Vogue and whilst i loved it in some respects i always wanted more performance, cooled seats and the very nice upgrade leather so I think the 5.0 S/C should do it.

I had battery issues with my TDV8 so glad to hear no reported trouble on the S/C.

I think you'll find that battery issues aren't confined to TDV8s! Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Thanks gents.

The one i have gone for has no rear dvd screens (no kids yet so not too concerned) but I have read the 2010 brochure which says it was standard so when was it changed over, mine will be a late 2009 59 car.

Also, will it have the dual view screen at that year?

Hi Calos,

'Any common things I should look out for?'.......Yes, petrol stations!

I had dual screen, never used it once in 2 years. My passengers preferred to use their iPads.

I'm interested to know why you were disappointed with the Bentley GT as I've been looking at a couple. Current MY2020

AMD, if you think RR fuel consumption is bad dont go near a Bentley GT, it will return around 14-15 going steady and around 12 if you want to even think about a bit of speed. Go hard and forget even looking.

Reasons for not being impressed:-

1. Poor ride quality, it cant decide if its a cruiser or a sports car so does neither of them well. Its too heavy up front so corners like s**t. Its skittish when pressing on and doesnt like country lane driving, its a m/way cruiser in my opinion.
2. Can leave it in sport suspension, it has to be set to that when you get in. Next sportiest setting is rubbish, too wallowy and comfort is like driving an old 1980's Bentley LOL.
3. Infotainment is stone age rubbish. The sat nav has a feature where it warms up before displaying in its brightest colour, so for large parts of short journeys you can barely see it. Phone is a total pile of junk too unless you go Sim card option.
4. Very cramped in the back and the seats take an age to move forward (electrically) so if its raining everyone gets soaked. I have had Coupes with much better access that this.
5. The doors weigh a tonne, so swing back when trying to get out. My missus has been hurt twice because of the pillarless glass doors.
6. Too many common issues such as creaking door cards, sagging headliner, worn suspension at 50k (£2.5k to fix)
7. Driving position is odd, possibly because i found the seat to be small but the steering wheel wouldnt drop down enough when i wanted the seat as low as it would go for that GT / sports feel so my hands were raised to an uncomfortable position.
8. Laminated glass starts to go off, a common issue i was told.

The list goes on. The car is not worth the money, unless you can afford a new one, V8 for example. The older W12 is crap for what you will pay.

I say dont bother, high end german stuff (or possibly jaguar stuff) is way better. I found that my 2005 felt every bit a 8 year old car. If you want a high performance GT get an M6 Cab, i regret not doing so when i opted for the Bentley and know without doubt it would have been a better car, hands down.

I had mine 10 weeks and chopped it in, loosing nigh on £8k but i knew it had to go.

Bring on my S/C Very Happy

Having had a 12 month old Bentley GT, I can confirm it is the Censored car ever in the cost vs reward stakes. Awful, awful car.
