really gone and spoilt it now couldn't leave them on ebay @£26 only 2 bolts and 20 mins, matches the grill and have original parts to put back on if or when I sell it

so after giving it a good old clean at the weekend, thought id better sort the rust on the rear wheel arch

so striped out the wheel arch liner today and started on the rust, not too bad, in between this I attacked the only other part of the car that lets it down, the bonnet vent

so the fun and games continue, carried on with the wheel arch, and behind the wheel arch liner, de rusting where needed and treating and painting, was looking at the rear discs [not pretty] and I know the handbrake is poor, so whilst im at it I thought I would pop the disc off and clean up the shoes etc, went to turn the disc to line up the hole to back off the shoes, in neutral, handbrake off, I had to use a bar between the lugs just to turn the disc!!!!!, caliper binding then, looks pretty horrible too, so took it off, pads not great, backed off handbrake shoes, disc not budging, big hammer, and helped the disc off, which was stuck somewhat in situ, got disc off, loads of gunk inside, disc shot, shoes shot, caliper shot, [with past experience, even if you clean it up and work it in and out, it will stick again sooner rather than later, so, new discs, pads, shoes, and calipers, not checked the other side yet, but you can bet its just as bad, I have brake engineering on my doorstep so will give them a bell tomorrow to see how much the calipers will be, rest of the parts aren't too pricey, hay ho may get to drive it some time in the next week or so

although the weather has been against me a bit, and its taken longer because of that, arches are all stripped, rust treated, primed, undersealed, and painted, with some tidying up behind the wheel arch protectors, wheels were given a good clean on the inside as well

lovely day here today, so clayed polished and sealed the car, alfie got somewhat bored waiting for me to finish, I thought he could have helped by running up and down the side of the car to take the polish off lol

looking good Hammie, nice colour , don't see many of these around where I am, keep up the good work will be worth the effort in the end  If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

cheers, It wasn't my first choice in colour when I got it, went for history, mileage and condition [apart from the arches lol] within my budget, but it has grown on me, can look various shades of gold/silver depending on lighting, just about got it presentable lol, just got to get the front wheels off and clean the inside of them, going in for new rear brakes on Monday, then will have to financially pace myself for the other jobs I want to get done, gearbox service, new rad and thermostat, rocker gaskets and pcv, then maybe put it onto gas, will have to see, im still very chuffed with it, and drive it for drivings sake at the mo, have a couple of niggles, the factory glass is rubbish at night, too dark to see out thru when reversing etc, don't think much to the view from the exterior mirrors either, but apart from that, feel a million dollars every time I get in it,

Just be aware fella that the driveshafts can be an absolute tw@t to get out... Make sure your indie is of a reliable nature as some unscrupulous people can quote you cheap to get the job in the door then the bill goes sky high when on the ramp

Dropped off the 2nd set of stormers to my mate at his bodyshop today for a freshen up, these I got off a forum member and are kerbed free, unlike 2 of mine, in fairness, my mate reckons he can repair and re finish the 2 quite badly kerbed ones I have on the car at the mo, once the 2nd set are fitted with better 45 section tyres, all for a good mates rate price.
Had a few foibles over the past few weeks, still have an intermittent lh headlight, its not the bulb, but every now and again refuses to ignite, but normally switching off the ign and trying again does the trick, stereo had a moment yesterday, would work for around 30 secs then stop working, turn off at the knob and back on and would work for another 30 secs etc etc, did notice it was not lighting up the dsp on the center display, ign off and on again solved this ?????? not done it since, and I also have an iffy drivers window switch that 1 in 10-15 times will not raise the window, if you toggle it a few times it kicks back in, 10 year old electrics I suppose, keeps you on your toes thou lol still love it

Top tip is to get some of the arch lip protector to give a bit of protection to your hard work on the rear arches.

Have a search, they are dead cheap and will prevent the arches getting chipped

Looking good though There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

2nd set of stormers now refinished and waiting for tyres to go back on, my mate with the bodyshop has advised to wait a few days until the paint has gone off a bit more, but they look like new again, so once on, I will have a set of 20ins stormers for sale, with or without nearly new Pirelli scorpion 275/40/20 tyres, as these are not the proper size for a ff
