England 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

The FF looks great! Mine has just been for annual service, and was losing a little coolant previously, spotted the pink stuff lying on the underside of the sump guard. When I bought the car over three years ago, the radiator was the first fault I found and had it replaced. It was the radiator again! Another £250!!

That is a lovely looking Rangie mate. Can I ask what products you used to do your arches?

Hi paul, I got this stuff in after reading/finding the thread on here on how to take you sidesteps off and and the lad doing the thread had used these products, I got them off ebay, and the touch up spray from Halfords, v good match in fairness, I only had some very old genolite in the garage so needed to replace anyway, found both very good and easy to use, finally got the arch rubbers of a rover 214 or 45 for a couple of quid from the scrappies they just peel off no tools needed[img]

New wheels and tyres on today, refurbed stormers, and nexen 295/45/20 tyres, doesn't really make a massive difference to the look of the car, but now has proper sized tyres and unkerbed wheels, albeit that they are not quite as silver as the ones I took off if that makes sense, new rad and thermostat have arrived and is going in next week for them to be changed, well that's my xmas presents sorted then Laughing Laughing [img]

Went in and had its new rad and thermostat fitted today, all seems to have gone well, just hope I don't get the low coolant bong in the next 300 miles as I have been getting, then that will be my water loss sorted, although the header tank looks a bit tired, I may well change that next month, has a bit of staining around the cap and the plastic screw on the top of it

Hi,

Your car looks nice and you've done a cracking job with your rear arches.

Did your seller get back to you when you contacted re the coolant loss that you had reported to them within the first 4 weeks of ownership?

Also, your headlight units don't seem to have the orange vertical reflective strip on the outer edges. Have you had it vinyl wrapped or something (apologies if I've missed the posts elsewhere)?

Thumbs Up

Hi pld, yes they did get back to me, but to be honest they weren't really interested, stated that the warranty only covered engine and gearbox, although I stated that surely the cooling system was part of the engine, anyway, couldn't be bothered with the small claims court /sale of good act etc etc, and it would of also cost me £120 to get the car back to them and collected again in fuel and trains, got a great price for a rad off AF site sponsers, so all in its only cost 250 for the new rad and thermostat to be bought and fitted by my indie for cash, plus they would have prob got the cheapest nastiest ones they could have got, not too sure re the lights, same as the tread plates I suppose, it was like that when I got it, not sure what you mean so will have to look at some other rr pix
anyway cooling system seems all sorted, touch wood, so not much left now, rocker gaskets and one exhaust manifold gasket, plus a towbar, but im sure Ill find something else to do on lol

new towbar fitted today, another job ticked off the list, and not lost a drop of coolant since the new rad went in, over 400 odd miles covered, was getting low coolant bong about every 300 before, so im confident [ish] that it is solved now
pcv and rocker cover gaskets next, and will see if I can get a leather repair done to some wear on the drivers seat 2003 ffrr v8 vogue

well its been a little while, over 1000 miles done now and not a drop of water lost, so the new rad did the trick, not a lot else to report really, apart from general washing and cleaning, but did have a gearbox oil and filter change last week, it was fine with no issues, but its a 2003 and prob on the original oil, no record of a change, so have had it done for peace of mind, its on 78k miles, towed my caravan for the first time with it last week, effortless lol, but it was only down the road for the caravans yearly service, [rip off but lose the warranty on it if its not done] but had the gearbox done for towing once the sun comes out [maybe],the gearbox place showed me some of the oil they had dropped out, pretty dirty, but the guy said there seemed to be nothing untoward in the sump pan or on the magnets.
but we now have our first oil leak!!!, its been leaving a couple of drips on the drive, don't know if its from the rocker covers as I know they need doing, but it was a bit grotty at the bottom front of the engine, got it up on the ramps and powerwashed the underneath, grotty job and got a bit wet but hopefully I will be able to identify where its coming from, still love it to bits thou[img]
