That's reassuring to know. Mine was done by the previous owner at 114km's and I have the receipt for chf 6500 (that's £4.5k!) to proove it! EUR2k sounds like a very good deal indeed.

I'm at 190km's now.

I think the way to go is to change the oil every other year or 25ish thousand miles then you don't build up the rubbish... Haven't had a customers fail now in a long long time that keeps to these rules... Some have covered over 200k Shocked

Like KurtVerbose, i'm in the same situation. Mine has got a new gearbox by the previous owner at 130km's ... and now it has 193km's, works great but looking forward i'm afraid what to do when it goes down!

I'm far away to Bielefeld Germany Confused maybe i can send the gearbox by mail and they refurbish with the sonnax valves!

Anyone have this experience to send a gearbox to repair? Ex-FULLFATTY now downgraded

If its done 60,000K since, why not service it before its too late and give yourself some piece of mind?

Maybe he can't undo the fill plug as well.

Still haven't done mine - might have to wait for my next trip to you Craig.

Yes Craig, will be done soon!

I already talk about it with my Land Rover mechanic to change the oil and filter, i only have the FF for to 6K. I changed the oil engine and filters, and he said the next change he will make the gearbox service also.

Craig i have another question:

The engine oil service, must be done 20k from to 20k like shows on the OBC or is better to do early service like 10k?
The OBC says i only need to make the service in 14K.

many thanks,

It depends how many miles per anum you do, plus the quality of oil you use... Servicing should be carries out annually if you do not achieve the milage on your service meter... I always change my own every year but only do around 4-6k a year, always using a very good quality fully synthetic oil...

Craig Thumbs Up

Thanks Craig,

I usually make 10km's in a year.

In my last BMW i only did the services when the OBC said to make 16Km's, almost 2 into 2 years and never had any problem, but in my FFRR i don´t want to take any risk!!! Confused

I make the service in a Land Rover specialist garage, and they only put the recommend and original products.

So is better to change the oil every year with 10k and ignore the OBC service km's right? Ex-FULLFATTY now downgraded

@ RRphil ; thx for your help. SO ive checked out that company in Bielefeld Germany. They supply a refurbed gearbox incl a new TC for € 2400... Do you think this is the way forward?

Does anyone have the contact details for this company in Bielefeld?

The gearbox on my RR is starting to die, and I am looking for a good place to get it done.

Also... does this company use the SONAX valves?

Thanks!!

Have in fact found somewhere close to home that can do it for €2000. He is a BMW mechanic who has retired and will replace the valve body with Sonnax one. Refurbish the gearbox, and clutches (replace if necessary) and replace with the latest version of the torque converter.

He has told me to call him on Saturday to fix when I can deliver the car to him.

I just hope he does a good job, but he seems to know his stuff!!
