We have already taken initial deposits on it but as yet don't know specifications or price details. |

Wait until 15MY. I have heard on the grapevine that changes are significant, particularly due to new EU6 engine requirements from Jan 2015. The SDV8 and V8SC ate EU5. Not sure about the TDV6. |

That is what I have heard. I am therefore delaying my order until MY 2015 is available. |

MY15 should also have significant changes to the HMI (human machine interface) and also the infotainment that goes with.

LR seem to be following a strategy of making material changes every year these days so whatever model year you wait for there will always be something better next year and your car will always be out of date. I waited for MY14.5 because there were a bunch of changes. Now MY15 is rumoured to be even better and I think, shall I wait another 6 months and get this? But then there will be rumours of something even better for 15.5 and so it goes on. I hate this about LR. If you buy a BMW/Audi/merc at the beginning of the life cycle or after the mid cycle refresh you have a car that is up to date for 3 years. If there was any other credible alternative to the RR from the Germans I would buy it for this reason alone. However there isn't so I will have to put up with the fact that by the time I take delivery of my MY 14.5 S/C in March there will probably be details all over the internet about MY15 that will make me feel as if I have bought an old car before I have driven a single mile. This is a marketing strategy that I think LR will ultimately regret when the competition inevitably catches up.

You make a good point. I'm hearing the same criticism about Apple and the iPads.

They are simply following the well-trodden path of fashion-led planned obsolescence pioneered for cars in the 1920s by General Motors under Alfred Sloan. Think of the 1950’s/1960s and the annual model changes to mainstream US cars…I’ll stick with my eight week old, out of fashion MY 13.5… Norman
