Deja Vu

Two hours ago, went to start the car and guess what.......the Censored thing just turned over and over and didn't even think if firing. Strange thing is, the same process as the February mess...Ran on gas yesterday, switched petrol, ran really well but went to start today and Jack S Censored I can't go through this again, replacement engine etc. I've spent over £7k on this money pit this year alone and am at my wits end.

The last few days she's not wanted to start very easily and has backfired a few times too if that gives anyone a clue. Not only do I need help, I may need divine intervention to stop me doing something daft to someone ...

Help!! Pleeeease.. Owning a Range Rover is the land based version of a boat...a hole in the road in which to throw regular bundles of money!

Hi Matey,

What problem solving have you done so far? Is there a spark at the plugs? Fuel in the tank? Injector loom plugged in and not looking damaged?

Sounds like the engine is trying to start on LPG

Can you isolate the LPG feed and once ensuring fuel is ther try and start.

Does it start ok when warm?

Good luck with yer plight. Made in Scotland frae 'Girders'

Sorry for not getting back, but to add to the woe my mother in law was rushed to hospital on Friday so everything halted.

My mechanic came today and plugged his code reader in which apparently showed nothing that should stop the car starting. He then turned her over and she literally sputtered to life. He drove her for a couple of miles when he says she was really smooth and no lights, so to be honest I'm completely shot with what to do. Thinking I should get her plugged in at a dealer
Just to see if there is an underlying issue that a standard reader won't pick up...or am I just clutching at straws?

I can't help but thinking I have a coil pack/spark plug problem as the root cause as I've had on a previous car Again, any ideas would be gratefully received and also acted upon as I'm at my wits end....probably the best car I've ever driven after the P38 and XJR but is the most unreliable my a country mile.... Owning a Range Rover is the land based version of a boat...a hole in the road in which to throw regular bundles of money!

If it happens again try force starting her on LPG and see if it rules out the petrol side.

This can usually be done by holding down the LPG button on the LPG fuel gauge as you start cranking. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Sounds like an issue I had on one of my P38's - would start lovely most of the time, but occasionally wouldn't want to start at all - no error codes either - it was the Crankshaft position sensor - took all of 3 minutes to fit a new one...

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

hmmm, i asked because mine wont start...i had a decision, either a crank sensor or either one of the cam sensors. -symptoms, -engine spinning, but no spark. i oredered the crrank sensor, fitted, still the same (£40) i then ordered a pair of cam sensors, somehow, only £13 each on ebay. (new) will get them tomorrow i hope.

hope i dont need an engine! Shocked

i see the symptons above of spluttering i had the day before, so wondered if i have similar fault. i wonder if the 'replacement engine', had the sensors still attached, from previous installation......
without more info, thats does seem a big hammer to crack a nut..
