Know someone who was caught doing 138 on the M74...yes 138 on the M74, he was charged with dangerous driving and could have faced a stretch in HMP but he managed to have his licence revoked for 20 months and a £1000 fine... |

I did my speed course, and it was quite interesting, especially as we drivers like to think we know the answers to the questions, more like nobody does! I was 37 in a 30. hee hee, thinking it was 40, but one guy was 32 in a 30 lots of discussion on it, and NO none of this 10% and 2. its 30 dead! however some cops are human, but if I was giving them the finger at 32, then, I would expect a noob response.

The first photo may not have been Police. My wife is part of a Community Speed Watch in our village, lots of people use it as a rat-run and its a very narrow high street, so it is difficult to even reach 30mph, anyway, when they are out they have to wear hi-vis jackets and have a radar gun, however, if someone is exceeding the speed limit they have no authority to issue a speeding ticket, anyone exceeding the limit has the registration and speed send to the local police station for their action.

I just 'borrow' the wife's hairdryer and wear a hi-viz vest then go outside for a couple of hours entertainment |

It can be worse, my dear British friend drives a Jag and was on his way from his French house to the UK for his sons wedding. He got caught on the tollway doing 195 km. where you are limited to 130. They took his drivers license there and then and there he stood in the middle of nowhere. He told them he was on his way to his sons wedding and they offered him a policeman as "chauffeur" to bring him to the first police station in the UK. That would cost him hotel, food and drinks and 500euro a day for this driver. Arrived in the UK he had to fill out all kind of paperwork concerning the withdrawal of his drivers license. His son picked him up there. He had to go through a 3 day course and the whole story costed him over 2500 pounds fine included. France is a great country....but don't get caught here. There are camera's everywhere and they have an organization in Rennes that works its way through 65000 speedtickets etc a day. So drive carefully in France the state loves this income. |

Just one of the reasons I try to avoid going to France but unfortunately unless you want to use ferries and take massive detours you have to drive through it to get to other more friendly countries There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Many users of toll roads are driving a car registered to a company. The company is under no obligation to give the name of the driver. So they do not loose points. The drivers usually pay the company their speed tickets. Next to that, france seems to be the country in europe with the highest rate of drivers without license and!!! without insurance.

Well we normally always travel via Belgium & Germany to get to Switzerland/Austria/Italy so its only a few miles on the French Autoroute before Belgium. And there is no speeding ticket agreement with UK in Germany |
