TDV8 Brembo front discs/pads

Lewes Land Rover are quoting £464.67 inc VAT for supply/fit or £289.30 supply only.
Is this any good?
I am awaiting a quote from Harwoods.
There is a slight lip on the discs, but perhaps I can get another set of pads out of them...
Kind regards,
Ed

If the lip is only slight and they aren't causing you problems i'd just do pads. Mine were vibrating when braking quickly down from 70, along with squealing like a bus. I changed both but when I got the discs off I wished I'd kept them a bit longer. They weren't that bad.

Price is about normal/ cheap for main dealer. I did my own and paid about £130 for parts from brakes international (front pads and discs)

There are a couple of options with the pads - OEM Brembo or Aftermarket (TRW). My local independent suggested that I wouldn't notice the difference but I went with the OEM ones. For all I know, they may be made by TRW anyway but......ho-hum.......!

Only thing I'd suggest is that they are a piece of pi$$ to change yourself if you have any knowledge of brakes. You don't even have to remove the callipers - just tap out the retaining pin and swap-out the pads. There is also a pad-wear sensor which will probably need to be changed at the same time and it's the most difficult bit to re-route the new cable back to the junction box. That is my plan - I have learnt that using aftermarket stuff often comes back to haunt me! I have done discs and pads on smaller/lighter cars before but details like the air suspension causing trouble I need to consider. I feel I will probably need to do the discs too and will probably change the caliper bolts and disc retaining pin too.
Any other top tips?
Kind regards,
Ed
P.S. Where did you get your genuine parts from? Any bendy dealers out there?

I tend to call Nick at Yeovil Land Rover. they sponsor the D3 forum and he always does good prices for the D3 chaps. Delivered by post as well.

As said above, change them yourself. Simple job, 15 minutes a side if doing pads only.

What hassle does the discs add? for example where do you find the torques for the caliper bolts, etc

Well I phoned Nick at Yeovil. What a chap!
He mentioned the RRP on the bits but he is looking at £225 delivered after a discount. He thinks it is quite an easy job.
It must be something in the order of 20% discount.
I think I shall be ordering the loadspace protector and rear seat protector from him too.
He mentioned that the Brembo calipers where 6 pot jobbies! Probably explains the price difference of front discs/pads on my peugeot 405 - £40!!!
Anyhow £225 seems very reasonable and I think I will budget in replacement bolts and disc pins to make it easier next time.
Hope this helps someone.
Kind regards,
Ed
P.S. he also mentioned that the discount on servicing does not work anymore as it was not working for them but he can give you the number of a mobile technician that only uses genuine parts, is VAT registered and stamps books that will work with warranty. Based in Derby, he is excellent and travels about. '96 Volkswagen Polo 1.4CL - SOLD

That'll be Iain (aka '10forcash', aka 'TFC') from the disco3 forum. Knows his stuff - he does. In fact, he has probably forgotten more than most dealership technicians ever get to know. Shocked Cool The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Must be him - I remember something about 10 for cash - I assumed it was something like he did work for cash - who would do such a thing?
Seems to be highly regarded.
