Alan, id'e question your indie's response my friend... Once the damage has been done "there aint no fixing it" replace it with a very big bill! Or service/flush it and prolong its life! No brainer!!!

I don't think you're comparing like for like. The gearbox is "supposed" to be sealed for life, whereas the engine isn't......

Perhaps not the best choice for comparison agreed. But my point was that just because its not broke doesn't mean it wont break. And just because LR states the gearbox is sealed for life doesn't mean an oil change will not benefit the gearbox as after 70k miles or so I am pretty sure the gearbox oil is not as effective at protection as it was when new. |

Tdv8 gearbox is not sealed for life and im pretty sure land rover now recommend an oil and filter change at 100k or 10 years.
